Have things happened in your life that you can not explain? Have you gotten out of situations that you thought were not possible? These are things that are associated with God, it is the things that are unexplainable, God will not force you into anything.
I believe in God in my own way, I believe in a personal relationship with him. I am not going to tell you to go to church or anything like that because people condemn others when they sin as well. I want you to do to things: first get a bible, king james version possibly and look through it, Second, just ask for personal understanding, Ex: " God, If you exist I ask that you show me how to build a relationship with you so that I may understand you, also unlock this bible before me so I can understand it as well."
How I feel is that you have nothing to lose, if it works you will build upon your relationship with God. On the other hand if it does not work you only wasted a bit of your time and you can move on. In fact don't buy a bible, it is online now , you can search bible and it should come up.
Hope this helps!

You are exactly like me. I have been going to church for about a year now because I was forced, I even learned about God and other stuff in Sunday school. Hell I even got baptised a few days ago. But you know what? I still can't accept all of this stuff. It's hard for me to accept the fact that just because you pray and everything, it's gonna come true sooner or later. I know there's more to religion than praying but in my opinion, if you still can't believe or you're not ready to accept God, just forget about it and move on. Remember, you always have a choice. You can go if you want. I, on the other hand, must. I'm glad there's people out there that's like me. Well, good luck my friend

It is a wonderful sign that you realize there is something wrong here... The answer is that you are battling (3) enemies that many people deny or refuse to believe as truth because the defy human reasoning and understanding.
The 3 enemies are -
SATAN - the powers of evil and darkness....
THE WORLD - living within the substandards of the ways of mankind.
YOURSELF - a victim of Satan's temptations / tribulations along with accepting what mankind offers as truth...
The following scriptures reveals that to love of the world makes us an enemy of God... and we must not let the world conform us to it's ways, but to transform ourself unto His way -
JAMES 4:4 ...know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
ROMANS 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Until the day you or any Christan dies, they remain in batlle with these 3 forces.
YOU MUST FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH!
You or anyone else are invited to email me at any time with any questions or concerns regarding the Bible, your salvation, life or eternity. God has given me the time for you...

Relax, you're on the right road to personal enlightenment. And no, you don't need a non-existent god or gods. What you DO need, I think, is to understand that your most important belief is in YOURSELF, period. Esse quam videri.
If you allow debilitating feelings of guilt and fear to permeate your being, then I'm afraid your mental future will be dark and smothering.
How does one overcome fear of disbelief in god? Well, one method is to speak with a few Atheists and/or Freethinkers. You might even consider joining one of their organizations.
At the very least, get a copy of The God Delusion by biologist Richard Dawkins and his wife. Read slowly and put another question on this topic in, say, a month or two.

:) lol me too! I just never understood that whole thing. I'm not sure about all that. I read a good book by Osho called "The Buddha Said...." and it just discusses different thoughts like that. I found it really interesting-you should check it out. Buddhism is not a religion...the book is all about being skeptical/questioning and how other faiths ask you to have that childlike 'blind faith' and many other things. You don't need hope-you already have it.

Well think about this- what are the chances of you being alive? Think about all the crime, natural disaters, and near death expirences people go through- how are you still here to ask that question? How is life here at all? Think of how harsh the universe is- with asteroids, black holes- what made the difference between Earth being unhabitable or Earth flourishing with life?
That's how I know there's a god that wants me around- just the fact that I actually woke up this morning.
But that's just me- people find faith in diffrent ways- and I have faith that you'll find yours.

You are correct in believing that blind faith is bad. However, there is a way that you can know that god exists and that he loves you. If you truly, with sincerity of heart, desire to know god he will make himself known unto you. You must kneel down and in sincere prayer ask God the father to let you feel in your heart the love which he has for you. If you do so and are willing to change your life and do whatever he tells you to do he will answer your prayer and you will know that he lives and loves you. Then as you put in practice the things that he teaches through his words and through his spirit you will see their fruits in your life. You will then no longer have to have blind faith because you will know that he listens to and answers your individual prayers.

Yes, there is. I too am an atheist, so don't think that you're alone.
If you are looking for a sense of community that you may have had when you were a member of a religious group (if you were one), you could consider Unitarian Universalism as a possible religious option. You do not have to believe in God or adhere to any central tenets to be a Unitarian Universalist.

Dear Boob,
There is Great hope for you....! However, you need to start reading the Bible (KJV). You do not need to understand everything you read.....because there are many diificult doctrines in the Bible....but just begin reading. You should pray before you begin and say, "Lord, I do not know anything. Please teach me."
If God is going to save you (and He may), it will occur in the environment of hearing the word of God. The Bible states in Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
