I'm confused! If doubts and confusion don't come from God, then why do we get those gut feelings that a decision isn't right? And why do we experience a lack of peace? Help!

The Bible tells us that God gives us peace and a sound mind. It also tells us that His peace passes all understanding. He never promised that we would have no conflicts, internally OR externally. What He promised us is that we would have peace from Him IN SPITE of what was going on.

It has been my personal experience that when I am experiencing confusion, doubts or a lack of peace, there is some area of my life in which I am not being obedient. God knows my heart and He knows when I am rebelling against Him and His will for me in any area. Even if I am doing what He told me to do, if I still harbor rebellion in my heart, I am out of sync in my relationship to Him and I can find no peace until I yeild myself totally to His will.

The Bible says that the sin of rebellion against God "is as witchcraft", and anyone who has read the first five books of the Old Testement knows how God views witchcraft.

If you are feeling that the decision isn't right, pray about it. Ask God to direct you as you read His word, as you pray and fast, and try to listen for His voice. It isn't hard. He says that He is the sheepherd and that His sheep know His voice. If you are really seeking His direction, He will give it to you.

We are never told to run our lives based on ANY "feeling" we might have one day , and not the next. Feelings are a very unreliable barometer.

We are to live our lives based on the principles found in Gods Word which specifically relate to us, the church, which is His Body. He has given us all the data we need to make informed and wise decisions, and also surrounds us with godly people who are older and wiser that we can counsel with to make sure.

When you KNOW the God of Peace, you have Peace WITH God and the peace OF God. Not necessarily verified by "feelings".

Good point. If the Almighty either gives us peace, or withholds it, that should be a reliable guidance mechanism if we can become more attuned to it.

No wonderment..no searching..no seeking...no finding...we would all stay ignorant...and Jesus would have been wrong..."Ask and you shal receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened.." because if you do, you shall..get it? (especially if you do it with your whole heart...) "Peace!" "seek first the Kingdom of God..." Matt; 6:33 7:7

Satan gives them to us.
and we feed off of them.
that is why we doubt.
