I never took pictures, but always had a Mom or Sister who did. I sincerely appreciate the fact that they are keeping photo journals of our family and events. I have always felt guilty about not taking pictures for my family. So, this year I joined the 21st century and invested in a digital camera! I love that I can instantly see if I like my pictures and delete the less flattering or blurry ones. Then I can go right to my computer and e-mail my pictures to my family. I get to keep my pictures on the computer, and my Mom and Sister get to keep in their photo journals. I am 43 years old, have 4 kids, and waited way too long to join the world of photo memory keepers. Don't wait too long to start keeping your memories - do it digital and keep just the ones you like!

I photograph absolutely every family gathering, significant family event, ( and several insignificant ones too) ! We have our family life together very well documented! My husband bought a fabulous camera, but he lets me use it absolutely all the time, as he is the one who doesn't bother, but he loves to see the end results, all those beautiful family photos, holiday photos, etc. He is quite proud of all of us.
One thing that gets to me a bit is that we have so many occasions well-documented, but I am not in many pictures, as I am always the one taking the photos. I think as the kids get a bit older this will resolve itself though, as they will help taking photos too - my 11 year old is beginning to take in interest in photography, which I am thrilled about.
I think it was actually when the kids came along that I really got into photography. Like any parent, I thought (and still do) that no more beautiful creatures ever walked the earth, and I wanted to capture it all on film! They have been spotted and photographed by our local newspapers too, they are quite striking-looking children, and we keep all their press clippings with pride! But my own photos of them are my favourites by far.

I usually do but lately they always look the same so don't bother.
This weekend I am going to see some of my relatives I haven't seen for a long time so will probably take some. Well, if I can find a camera. My digital one quit working, I've had it for about 6 years.

I take lot of photos, few stills and mostly video in all the social and family gatherings. I preserve all of them. However I do not write any name below the photos, just to see whom I can remember after many years.

No, I take photos of the family gatherings and most of the time I'm left out of the photos because I'm the one taking them.

Yep, I sure do. When I was little my family used to get so mad because I would jump into every picture that was taken. Do you know how many pics that my grandma has that are posed pics of my family members, aunts, cousins, etc--and then my head in the middle where I jumped in at the last minute....lol

I usually don't take pictures: I'd much rather just remember the good moments that are worth remembering, instead of having the clutter of pictures, frames, or photo books. I will probably take millions of pictures when I have kids, though, I'm sure: who would want to forget THOSE moments??! LOL

Yes, I do...but I drive people nuts because I don't pose the photos...I take candid shots when people aren't thinking about posing for the camera....I get my best pictures with candid shots I think.
I try to take the best pictures I can. I had several courses in photography in college and try to make pictures that are good enough for use in a magazine if I had to.

I would if I had a camera. I had got a digital one and it decided not to work. I took it back to get the money and will get another one later--a different brand. In the meantime, I can get a disposable camera and deal with that.
