Rum...I m allergic to Tequila!

The nice thing about Rum is most of what's out there is pretty good. Sure there are some great ones, but there aren't many terrible ones, and almost any of 'em will go well with coke or in a mojito.

Now tequila, which is by far my favorite, is much trickier. That's because there are so many bad ones, like Cuervo & Sauza that dominate the market. A lot of people just drink those because they are so heavily marketted, and never try a decent one, and just add to the ill-gotten reputation tequila has for hangovers. Good tequila (100% agave) will not give you a hangover.

As long as you're talking a tequila that's 100% agave, there's simply no comparison to rum, and if you're talking a quality reposado or anejo, even more so.

Craft beer if I have a choice in the matter. Rum if I can only choose between the two of those. There are some good Tequilas out there but none I've had that compare to a lovingly crafted well aged rum.
