I would not say it is liking eating a slice of pie. I suggest that you eat the pizza with your hands the first time and fork and knife thereafter. I hope you enjoy.

If you go to Gino's or Connie's or Giordano's, plan to have the deep dish style that sometimes requires a fork. It's still pretty good.
Lou Malnati's, Chicago's Pizza, and just about any little cheesy pizza stand you pass will have the thin sliced, fold-in-half-if-you-want-to type pizza that does not require a fork.

The same rules apply as with eating lobster or shrimp. If the food isn't all over the table and your hands are clean, put on a bib and have a good time with your friends. If you were at home would you pick up the slice.

Chicago pizza rocks! You can eat it with a fork if you choose; but it's best to just grab napkins and eat with your hands.

For good Chicago stuffed pizza, you need a fork. It is thicker than one inch. Giordanos is my favorite.
