I have these tiny speckles on my Canon Rebel xti lens, and I dont want to use any type pf liquid on it. I tried a cloth for lenses but it wont come off and I dont want to press down too hard.

What should I do?

Use a spray on lens cleaning solution (the kind you would get from your optician to clean your glasses with), and a soft lint-less lens cleaning tissue (an optician is a good source for this too). Just don't rub the lens too hard (and you shouldn't have to).
You could always let a Canon repair shop do the work for you, but you will probably pay $40-$50 for that service and tie up your lens for several days, and they will do the same operation I described above.

You could get a lens cleaning kit that includes a liquid that you put on the cloth, and then clean the lens

But you should really have a UV filter on the lens at all times to protect it. If anything bad should happen to the filter, they can be easilly replaced cheaply, and your lens is still safe.

I think I would take the lens to a good camera store where they could advise you. (Not Best Buy or Wal-Mart.)

NEVER NEVER NEVER put any liquid - even lens cleaning liquid - directly on the lens. If you have to use a liquid then put it on a lens cleaning cloth.

I second the use of a UV or Skylight filter on your lens 24/7 unless you're using your polarizer filter.
