No your not but women in love seem to want to. It's really very sweet, She gets to find something that she wants to see him wear.
You don't have to spend much either, A pawn shop is a good place to start. It would cost about $ 40.00 to $ 70.00
But this is only meant to be a first ring. As you both earn money the rings seem to get to expensive so don't let this happen to the both of you.
Set some goals early in your relationship so it doesn't become about the cash.
Now that you'll be getting married a savings account will be the largest thing to start (NOT) a checking account.
If you both work then settle on an amount that you will both put into the account per month it should be 20 percent.
per pay.
This is if you both trust eachother.
An engagement ring is his promise and you agreed to his promise, You are going to get married. That's it you both gave your word. So now's the time to decide what you are going to do. This is serious so get busy make a list on the things that you need to get in order and ask hime to do the same. Remember it takes. No less than $ 12,000.00 to have a really good start in the first year of marriage. Please don't let this be to long of an engagement or the newness will ware off, The reason for the list will test the commentment and results will show if this is just a game. Now would be the time to see if he knows how to do laundry as he will still be doing his own laundry when and if you get married. Also what about your own account that he doesn't know about. Use this account to save money for your own NICE car and full coverage insurance!!!!! Don't depend on any man to keep you in a fine car you should have $ 600.00 in the next 3 months and $30.00 for every $ 100.00 that you earn so lets say in a week you take home $ 300.00 you have to put into the car account $ 90.00 so if you buy a car for $ 20,000.00 you have to put a down payment of $ 7,200.00 and have no less than 4 payments saved so you'll have 4 months without having to worry about making payments and be able to pay 8 months of car insurance.... see what being engaged is? It's big business it's not just about a ring !!!!!! have a good day Dear.

Guys don't get engagement rings. You may want to buy him a wedding ring when the time comes. Sometimes they are sold in sets with the bride's wedding ring, so I would think you would pay for it together with the guy.

Assuming he bought an engagement ring for you and you said yes, you BOTH go out to buy him a wedding ring together. We won't wear his ring until the wedding day.

Guys typically don't wear engagement rings before the wedding day.

an engagement ring? no. Once you've set a date, you buy a wedding ring, which you slip on his finger during the marriage ceremony itself. that's all.

You should and you must buy his ring as that is only proper ... It will be cool if you bring him along to buy his ... that way you get a correct fit on his finger ... :)
