For the last hundred years, the only valid reason a woman would wear a hat indoors all day is because it is part of an outfit. I have a female friend who has long, long ropelike dreadlocks and always wears a strange hand-knitted wool hat half hanging off her head. I wouldn't consider that "an outfit". I have a number of black friends who wear hats during the day. They are usually close-fitting color-coordinated turban-type hats which look very stylish. That's "an outfit". Girls shouldn't wear baseball caps the second after they leave the playing field.

it was acceptable up until the late 60's all well dressed women wore hats, gloves and stockings the weather had nothing to do with it i remember my mother wearing stockings in 90 degree weather to go without was considered loose... as far as hats go if you watch the old black and white movies all the women wear hats inside and out

It is considered acceptable since it's regarded as part of her outfit. But if it's a ball cap, she should consider removing it.

In her own house, yes.

But I don't think that's very polite to do in someone else's home, and not in a place of worship, either.

If her hair is way out of control then it would be bad if she didn't.
