NO, when you or the other person became a felon you can't posses any type of firearm in any state. It doesn't matter if it is for hunting or home protection.

It is not true. The only long gun a convicted felon can possess is a black powder rifle or shotgun, neither of which are classified as firearms. Many law enforcement officers including police and probation officers are unaware that even these guns can be possessed by a felon, so in order to be safe, you need to call your local police department. Also, a felon cannot posses a black powder handgun. The law regarding possessing a firearm by a felon has nothing to do with purchase. It is illegal for a convicted felon to even be around firearms. This means no trips to the gun range.

Absolutely No,,, As a convicted felon, you may not now nor
ever be in possession of a fire arm or own a fire arm, If you
are on parole or probation and if you are caught with a firearm in your control.. Say goodbye to your freedom you back inside for the duration of your sentence, Plus the additonal weapons charge..

A convicted felon is under what is called "weapons under disability". This applies to a various assortment of "weapons", not just firearms. Knives with blades over 3 1/2 inches, swords, lances, spears, anything that is considered a deadly weapon. Under weapons under disabilty, that same person is not allowed to touch, own, carry, use or posses a weapon. That same person is not allowed to sit in another person's house who owns firearms. Depending on the felony conviction itself, a person MAY have their record expunged ( only applies to a first time conviction) after a specified period of time. This is not unilateral. See your states revised code for applications. I hope this helps you.
