It is my oldest son's Patron Saint's Feast day and we are looking for a good Catholic way to observe it. Also does anyone have any prayer requests? I am attending Adoration and Mass in the morning and would love to prayer for anyone. Merry Christmas!
Peace Be With You,
Debra

Yes James and Father I will include your prayer requests. My son's name is Seane-Irish for John and he chose him as well for his Confirmation.

Hi Debra!

Is Dec 27 your son's Name day or is St. John his patron for some other reason?

There is a story about St. John being challenged to drink a cup of poisoned wine by a pagan magician.
The apostle made the sign of the cross over it and then drank it to the bottom with no ill effects. (A little like the story of St. Benedict.)

So there are customs involving blessing (NOT consecrating!) wine involved with St. John's Day.
In northern Europe where wine had to be imported, cider was often substituted.
So depending upon how old your son might be, he could pour and lead the family in a toast with wine or cider.
Making little cakes with wine was also a medieval custom, and was believed to make you disease resistant for the following year if you ate one on St. John's Day.

Here is a website with some ideas:

Would you please pray for my daughter, Katherine, serving in Iraq?
And maybe for me and for wisdom for my cardiologists.
Thank you.

Saint John, pray to Our Lord to give Debra's son some of your love and wisdom.
Amen

EDIT--
GREAT CHANCE TO USE THAT PORT WINE CHEESE BALL THAT SOMEONE GAVE YOU FOR CHRISTMAS!!

I don't know what to suggest except to be sincere. I believe that the Lord will hear you and respond favorably. Yes, I would appreciate having you pray for me and my family. Thank you. May you have a prosperous, healthy, God-endowed, peaceful and Happy New Year.
