In short, no. It seems impossible to distinguish between "signs of a spiritual world" and natural explanations. Alleged "supernatural" events are largely unrepeatable and leave no traces, which makes it impossible to test scientifically. So like the notion of "aether", I find it to be a useless model for understanding the world.

That is not to say, however, that there aren't events and other phenomena that science can't explain at the moment. I'm open to that idea. And I do have my own PERSONAL experiences that I attach something of great and symbolic significance to. But in the mean time, there are much better explanations for things like "bleeding walls" and whatever is on the latest ghost-hunting TV show.

No, I think there is an unseen spiritual world within us, and we don't understand it very well.

But other atheists have said I'm not a "real" atheist (orthodox atheist???) if I believe in the human soul. So I've started referring to myself as a NOTA: none of the above. That's what is usually listed last on a multiple choice questionnaire for identifying your religious "affiliation." I'm unaffiliated.

Well, I am not totally an Athesist, but I'm coming very close to it.

I do believe there is something that we as humans will never understand or experience until we reach the other side. If in fact there is " the other side". If there is something to this, this stuff we call a soul, wherever it goes, it goes somewhere totally different than what religon teaches us.

Actually, I am looking forward to finding this ultimate question out. I am not afraid of death. I don't want to experience the pain of death, no one does. But, I figure death is the great equalizer of everyone, rich or poor, bad or good. Everyone is going to die, so people just better learn to accept this one absolue truth.

Yeah. It's called organized religion that likes itself as God. Funny how "God" works in strange ways. But then you can listen to your favorite bible bouncer Pat Robertson and send in a few good men :-)

agnostic, not atheist...

there are many things we don't understand... to call it a "spiritual world" is a bit of a "leap of faith" however.
