Depression takes time to heal, as well as sometimes meds and counselling. Don't be discouraged, work with today and let tomorrowworry about itself. Be kind to yourself, give yourself time to heal. There are no fixed times for healing, it more a matter of going thru the phases of recovery, I'm sorry for you, that you suffer so, it is hard. remember that what is at fault is a chemical imballance in your mind, and until it comes good, all you can do is hang in there. The mind has to learn to restore the ballance, or be helped to do so with meds. It's an imprecise and delicate science, but there is hope, never let the hope go out.

The reason nothing is really changing is that you aren't dealing with the real issue, instead you are putting a bandaid on it will drugs.
I think self esteem is an issue for many people, and it could be yours too. What your therapist needs to do is not just label it but give you the tools to cope with it and start to build self-esteem.
Who put you on the antidepressant? What was the reason, were you suicidal? If not, I suggest you begin to discuss with that person how you should be taken off of it and now deal with the issues in your life.

Bless your heart.
I understand. It sounds like your college professor might be just the person to point you to a counselor. Self-worth comes from helping others, usually, and when we get so caught up in our own problems, we can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we're worthless to others, and ourselves. Self-esteem comes from loving yourself for who you are. Accepting that you may not be perfect, and that you do have something to give others.
Yes, it's easy for the isolator to say to themselves that it's easier to stay home. That way, we won't have to "feel" pain. Emotional security will come, if you will just call somebody and say, "I'd love to help you today. I need to get out of myself for a while." After several tries, you will find this easier and easier to do. And more people will think of your kindness as a God-send.
Good luck, and may God bless you with honest friends who won't take advantage of you.
