The person that most people, according to some, refer to as jesus christ was really named emanuel. I know some might think it doesn't matter what his name really was... but i would rather pray to god's only son by the right name. can anyone give me some info on this

The name "Emmanuel" is from a prophecy of Isaiah 7:14, in which the prophet predicts the birth of a child as a sign to a fearful king.

Jerusalem was under attack, and the king was losing heart. Isaiah, in a classic bit of prophetic street theater, told him that a child with the unusual name Emmanuel (it means, "God with us") would be born. This sign was to inspired to king to know that God was with him and would give him victory over his enemies.

Though the details of the naming don't line up exactly, this prophecy is seen by Christians as as sign of Jesus's birth. Jesus's given name is Yeshuah, which we usually translate as Joshua (Matthew 1:25). This name means "God Saves."

Both names apply. In Jesus, God is with us. In Jesus, God saves us. If you are worried about which name to use, call him what his mother, father, family and friends called him: Jesus. When you are more familiar with him, call him what his followers have been calling him for the better part of two millennia: Lord.

The REAL Jesus
There is "another Jesus" that is not the REAL Jesus of
the Bible (2 Cor. 11:4). Salvation can only take place
only through faith in the REAL Jesus. Faith in
"another Jesus" cannot save anyone. So how can you
tell if you have the REAL Jesus?
The Jesus of the Bible...
-- is prayed to - Acts 7:55-60; Psalm 116:4
and Zech. 13:9 with 1 Cor. 1:1-2
-- is worshiped - Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33; 28:9;
John 9:35-38; Heb. 1:6
-- is called God - John 20:28; Heb. 1:8; Isa.
9:6
-- is the ONLY way to God - John 14:6; Acts
4:12
-- did not come to bring peace, but a
sword - Matt. 10:34
-- tells us to fear God - Matt. 10:28
-- tells us that the world will hate us - John
15:18-19, 17:14
-- tells us Christians can expect to suffer -
Matt. 5:45; John 16:33; Heb. 11:35-38; 1 Pet.
4:12; 1 John 3:13
-- commands us share the gospel - Matt.
28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8

Some say Jesus was a prophet, some say a great teacher and some say the Son of God. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and performed many miracles and at age 33 Jesus Christ was falsely accused by the religious people of His day and was put to death by crucifixion. But, three days later Jesus Christ proved to the world that He was who He said He was. Jesus Christ was God in human flesh. God came down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ a sinless man to die for the sins of the world. Ask yourself have you sinned? Let's look at God’s Law the Ten Commandments. Is God first in every part of your life? Have you always obeyed your parents? Have you used God’s holy name in vain? Have you ever looked at someone with sexual desire (lust - which is adultery in the heart)? Have you ever told a lie (including “fibs”)? Ever stolen anything (value is irrelevant)? If you are honest with yourself, you know you would be guilty on Judgment Day. God’s punishment is hell for all who break His Law. That’s why Jesus died in your place. You broke God’s Law but, Jesus paid your fine with His own blood. That’s how much God loves you! If you will confess your sins and repent (turn from your sin), and place your trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God will forgive your sins and grant you everlasting life.

If you will read the Bible you will find the answers. Jesus was called many Names, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace and many more. Jesus Christ the only begotten son of God. Prayer to God for your needs made in in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ are answered. Your question is not silly , all you need is some more reading of the New testament, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you and guide you. God bless you.

This is based on a prophesy in the Old Testament by Isaiah. Isaiah said "The young woman will bear a child and his name will be called Emmanuel which means 'God is With Us'"

Christians interpret the word he used for 'young woman' as 'virgin', and think Isaiah was talking about Jesus.

But Jesus' name wasn't really Jesus anyway, it was something more like 'Jeshua'. 'Jesus' is the Greek form of his name, and we use that name for him because the earliest versions of the New Testament scriptures we have are in Greek. But Jesus didn't speak Greek himself.

I don't think it really matters what his name is. God deliberately doesn't use his name, we call him God which is his title. 'Christ' is also a title, meaning 'the anointed one'. If God hears people's prayers, it doesn't matter what name they use or even what language they speak.

The name Immanuel is from an Old Testament prophesy foretelling the coming of Jesus the Messiah:

"This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

Matthew 1:18-22

Please read the Bible, especially the New Testament for yourself. There is no end to the foolish nonsense people come up with these days. Satan is hard at work to turn you away from the faith because he knows his time is running out.

Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Mat 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
Mat 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Jesus is the Name given to the Christ, because it is the Name of God.
Christ is anointed flesh, God came in the flesh of a child to save us not any one else
1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

There are some people who vehemently argue that Jesus never existed, then again there are some folks that believe that the holocaust never occurred in spite of it being one of the most documented events in history.

I believe Jesus existed, lived and was crucified as the Bible relates it.

What I don't believe is what many people say that means or doesn't mean.

For instance, I don't believe he died such a horrible death so that a few self proclaimed "Prophets" of today say it was so that Christians could live a life of extreme wealth in a world where millions die hungry each night.

The name Emmanuel means 'God with us'.

It is just another name referring to the Messiah. Yes, the angel told Mary in Mathew 1:21 that she is to name Him Jesus because He will save His people from their sins, but in Mathew 1:23 the name Emmanuel is given in italics because it was prophetic scripture. Emmanuel is a Messianic name for our Lord.
