My friend (potential boyfriend) and I see eachother 2-3 times a week. It has been this way for roughly 7 months. Everytime it gets better and better because we are both growing more comfortable. Theres always lots of flirting and cudding and long deep talks. Everything about our current friendly relationship is going great. We both really enjoy eachothers company. It just seems like we are more of a couple than friends, which is what I want. We have discussed our situation on numerous occasions, and the only reason he will not commit is because he thinks I am too young for him. I am very mature for my age. I graduated from cosmetology school and currently have a full time job at a salon. I am 18 and he is 26. To me age is not an issue but he cant seem to not be hung up on it. Am I just kidding myself about the age difference being an issue or can this turn into a relationship?

I dont think that 18 to 26 is that big of an age difference. But he has to be comfortable with it. Maybe he is just scared of getting to attached. Give him some time, if it is meant to be then he will come around. Dont push him, it will backfire.

I really don't know how any guy who was physically attracted to a girl could stay at this level for 7 months. Especially one who is 26, and should have some experience with girls. There must be something going on, and you are in the best position to know what it is. I doubt it is the age difference. That doesn't really seem to be a huge gap to me, especailly if you have completed your schooling and are employed.
Maybe he is just really exceptional, but there could be other issues. Have you tried taking it further on your own initiative?

Age is just a number. And this is not a vast age difference. My husband is 14 years older than me and it has never made any difference to either of us. We're very compatible. What makes him think you're too young for him? You sound very mature. He should be flattered!Good Luck.

Honestly, I don't know why on Earth a 26 year old would want to be with an 18 year old.
