I have toured Mrs. Baird's Bread, Borden Ice-Cream and Frito Lay factories where products for human consumption is made. I am wondering if anyone has asked their dog food company where their food is processed and if they can tour the plant? I'd have to wonder why any food company keeps this secret! One dog food that is supposed to be a good one, and may well be, even states at their site that they have left one processor and moved to another that they cannot disclose!

If you have asked, I'd like to know what you were told.
I was given specific ans. to specific questions from my dog food company, but I didn't get a direct ans. about where the plant is or whether it can be toured. So if others of you will e-mail your dog food co's and ask "Where is your food processed and can i tour that plant?" I will too, and I'd be curious as to what the companies will answer...

while in the UK i had the privledge of touring the Royal Canin main factory, very clean facility and very well run, they answered all my questions without hesitation but thoughtfully (they didnt seem reheresed) and i was impressed with their quality control

ive also toured the merrick Food and treat plants AND their rendering plant (the rendering plant was a sad place but exceptionally well kept for a slaughterhouse offshoot)
again, was impressed.

Blue Buffalo company also has a very nice facility i felt privledged to tour

as did californai natural

i tried to get a tour of timberwolf but got the run around...lots of dropped emails, some no responces and a "our facility isnt open to the public. though they were ahppy to answer specicif questions

ive had no luck with Chicken Soup brand either...

Yes I feed my dog overpriced high quality foods. I try my hardest to eat healthy, I'm only fifteen but I have a history of heart disease in my family, don't get my wrong I still eat crappy foods lol. But my dogs are my biggest motivators. We go for 2 walks a day lasting 30 mins and a stop at the old baseball field during our walks to play a 20 minute game of off leash fetch. Well that's about over 3 hours of exercise for me lol. If I didn't have my three dogs I would probably eat like a pig. lol

No , I have not toured , Pet food Co.'s
I HAVE LEARNED , TO READ THE LABLES , ON , Pet Food , ... Thanks to Itchmo & the wonder People that care , what to feed there animals , I have learned , not to trust , there poison food. Royal Canin , Chicken soup , may have clean factorys , but , They had recalls on there , "PET FOOD " , I payed a dear price , trusting , lost three cats , Cancer , kidney , thyroid , problem , The allergys , skin problem , the Vet's won't admit , it is food poison , because , a lot of Pet food Co.'s put them , threw , Vet medical school , gifts , vacations , It's called ," Don't bite , the hand , that feed you " if the Vet would to tell you .. ( pet food poison ), the pet food Co. would have to pay your Vet bill , of course , we would spend more money , for a lawyer , then the vet bill , you can only fight back , by , not buying ........ PET FOOD
sooner or later , there brand will , be on the recall list , soon as some one , can , spend the money , to get it tested.
I would never want to visit , any of there pet food , process factory , NEVER. T.K.J. Thel

I did - but it was with a special interest group with the animal science majors from the college I was attending - They (the plant) were not well set up for tours.
PS many human food plants don't do tours either (its discouraged now least some terrorist use it as an outlet to poison the food)....

I'm with Leo. I feed Innova Evo, and would love to tour their facilities, but I'm quite content and at ease because I know they are a great company.

Not too sure about Timberwolf though, I was going to feed that a while back, but chose Evo instead.

I feed primarily raw.- it makes me feel better and my dogs look fantastic. I've done the research to make sure they have a balanced diet... and they're winning in the show ring..

I say "primarily" because I do feed some high quality kibble as training treats.

That is such a great idea, and I wonder if Innova would allow that, even though I am already convinced that the food is awesome.
