Yes, it does. We just never learn. When I was a new Christian and read the Bible, I couldn't believe how the Israelites kept sinning and repenting and sinning some more. Took a long time to see that we are doing the same things. They not only sinned (Israelites) but kept turning from God. We all need to repent for this nation.

How does the Old Testament relate to atheists? There is no such thing as prophets period. Some people may have been crazy enough to believe that they were speaking the word of God, but then again, Greek priestesses used to stick their heads in volcanic lava tubes filled with naturally occurring, hallucinogenic gases and believed they came out speaking the word of Apollo. It's amazing what you can convince scientifically illiterate people of.

No, actually the bible is filled with numerous periods of time where the people of Israel were getting no miracles, no love, no knowledge of God. When you read it, particularly in the Hebrew Scriptures, there are many passages in Judges that say "and there was a people who did not know God" and that refers to a generation, like our own, where people weren't experiencing first hand anything. Then a little while later, the bible will say "They knew God" . It is interesting because it is just like today. I would say, if we were in the bible we would be in a time of not knowing God, then the society will shift and there will be more emphasis on religion in other generations.

No biblical quote can be relevant to the question of the validity of atheist views: it is fiction.

ok, good for you. It's your god, and it's the one that is supposedly omniscient yet has to revise what it says. How does an all knowing being have to take back what it said again?
