What do you look for in a 40 plus women? Are looks still important or does an intelligent, vibrant personality help? Does she need to be over all that baggage by that age? Is a sense of humour the best thing?

By that age she should be responsible, grounded but with a sense of adventure. She doesn't have to be good looking but should take care of herself. Intelligent, vibrant and having a sense of humor aren't everything, but being a caring person and not being completely self absorbed are important.

Intelligence #1. Vibrant personality is good. And yeah, women over 40 can still be beautiful. But its not the main thing. And I'd never expect anyone, any age to not have some baggage.

whilst I'm not a guy, I find that guys are attracted to what personality they think I am. Rather than my looks.
Don't get me wrong, I still hit the gym for my own good feeling of health. and the guys will look and approach someone who has the self esteem of taking care of their body. (at this age, it's a big indicator).
But for the longer term relationship, The guy you want is the guy that is looking at your personality/intelligence. And you don't want to deal with the guys that aren't looking for that.

1. Her faith. An unfailing, unwavering belief in Christ is paramount. Without this one quality, I wouldn't consider anyone any further. With this one quality, all things are possible.**
2. A pulse.
** According to the Bible, she cannot have already been married which is a tough one when someone is 40+.

personality wins hands down and we all have baggage --- how we handle it is the important thing ---- intelligence is a real plus ---- have fun
