It's a common brainwashing tactic. When a person is at their weakest, their mind is very susceptible to conditioning.

Sometimes, we have to get to the bottom before we will look up and realize we need some help.
Honestly, do you believe that over a billion people aren't thinking straight when they have decided that they had screwed up enough and suck at being God? Decided that allowing God to be God would be better than to continue down the path they are on (that got them screwed up in the first place?)
Finding Jesus can be an emotional experience. You may choose not to believe and that would be up to you. However, you can't tell me about my own personal experience, the one on one, face to face experience with Jesus Christ. Once I had that...my life was never the same.
Why do you think others are delirious?

What a question!
As long as a person DOES find God it should really matter WHEN he/she finds Him!
God does allow bad things are darkness to enter our lives in order to give us a reason to call on Him.
If everyday was a great day, most likely people wouldn't call on God or even remember Him.
But, just as your question suggest - we do call on Him when we are in our weakest, most delirious minds don't we?
God Bless You!

When I'm at my weakest/most delirious, I remember that I can always count on me to pull myself through.

oh quite right, \I have lived in many places where god is part of a deal whereby the poor, the inadequate, the homeless etc are lured into religious places just because they are vulnerable. needy and without family/ friends these religious people grab them up and get them into their religion. its pitiful.also alot are just hungry and these \\\\\\\\\\\\\\christians offer them food, of course they will go !

It's when they realize they can't solve all their problems themselves. It's when they stop depending on self and start depending on God.

"Many people" don't. They "find God" when they soften their hardened hearts and are able to hear what God offers them.
