I recently went to donate blood and was told i couldnt as my blood did not meet there standards, I am not sure of the details. I then went to visit my doctor who sent me for blood tests, i got the blood report back to my house which my doctor was not happy about and it give lots of details which i was unsure about and stated that the suspect were "LY Blasts" i typed this in to google and erything that come up was to do with leukemia. My doctor has previoulsy given the wrong information my aunty telling her she was suffering from head aches she later found out she had a brain tumor. I cant help but think he has also given me the wrong information and that i do actually have leukemia. I cannot stop thinking about it, Would you reccomend me getting a second opinion.Sorry it is so long. I am 17 years old and female if this is of any relevence. Please help. Thank-you very much

Just go see another doctor for a complete blood test and checkup. Describe any symptoms you may be having and let him diagnose you. No one here can do that because you need to be clinically examined.

LY refers to lymphoid or lymphocytes, the cells of the immune system. A blast can refer to normal mature white cells or immature white cells. There is no way to tell from your description what is meant by this report. It needs to be interpreted by a doctor. But, in general terms , leukemia would have too many immature white blood cells (leukocytes ), too few red blood cells and too few platlets. Without the rest of the information contained in the report LY blasts do not clearly indicate a diagnosis. There is also a possibility of a false reading . . so you should go to another doctor and ask to repeat the tests.

If your doctor suspected leukemia he would have referred you to a pediatric hematologist/oncologist for further testing.
But, if you are still concerned about this it is probably time to seek out a second opinion.

First thing you need to do, is breathe. I know its scary, ive done it. But becoming paranoid will not help the situation. You need to calm down a bit so you can focus on the whole situation and use your energy for better things. Im not saying you shouldnt worry, at all, but take a breath and step back for a moment. :)

I would get a second opinion, definatly. No one knows your body better than you. However, have you had any other symptoms lately? If you have leukemia, the area in your body where parts of your blood are being taken over by the cancer cells, stealing the space for this production. In turn, ur platelet, white blood cell, and red blood cell count will drop. this means you would be very tired all the time, bruising you cant explain (both big black and blues as well as red speckeled spots under the skin), being sick easily, and a fever all the time. Also, you may have a feeling of being full all the time (this is an inflammed spleen). Not hungry and losing weight. looking very pale. If you havent had any of these symptoms, you may still want to get another opinion, but these are bigs symptoms of leukemia so you can breath a little easier.

I wish you the best!

For sure get another opinion. Take the papers with you to the new doctor.
And now that you have had a good scare, get yourself on a good quality diet so you can survive this trauma and prevent another one.
Good fruits and veggies,
leave off the meats, dairy, processed food, etc. There is some really promising research using raspberries against leukemia. In the lab, raspberries totally killed leukemia cells. New research but is so promising. But it does tell you the power of F&V. and God made those for you.

Get a second opinion right away. Make sure you take your current lab results with you. Blasts are immature white blood cells.
