I live in St. Charles Illinois, and I'm looking for a nearby location to have my wedding reception. I'm not looking for a "reception" hall like Riverside, or Carlisle, but something a little cheaper. A place with room for 150 people and a large dance floor. ANY suggestions would be great!! Thanks. Also any other $ saving suggestions will be greatly apprieciated!

try looking for vfw halls, moose lodges, nur temples, elks lodges and fire station banquet halls

we are having ours at my fiances fire house. they have a large dance floor, large bar area and great food service area as well.
granted we live in delaware but most towns are the same for these function halls.

best of luck.

oh for favors- buy candy after holidays when it's half off.
get organza bags to match your wedding colors and put a few candies in the bags as favors-
ideabus is a seller on ebay- has great deals on organza bags (mention me and he will give a discount - natalie)

buy a cake at a grocery store (many can be up to $5 cheaper a serving than bakeries)
have a dessert table for non caker eaters or serve sheet cake

once the cake is taken in back to be cut and served nobody will know what's sheet and not

rent flower girl dresses from an online store or shop after spring/easter when cute dresses are dirt cheap. check craigslist and 2nd hand stores too

2nd hand dress shops are great for bridal dresses too, check craigslist for your dress too.

uhhhh if i think of more ideas i'll let you know lol

consider.....
1. a weekday wedding in the afternoon
2. a faux cake
3. call up your favorite FAMILY owned BBQ or Italian Restaurant. Key thing is family owned, these businesses are always honored to do a wedding and their prices show this. When all else fails do a finger food reception.
4. Honeymoon: stay close, drive and spend your money on fun not food.
5.Use as many artificial flowers as you can

I chose not to serve dinner. Just give people some snacks instead. Also have the wedding in between meal times like 10am or 2pm. This way they wont expect a full meal. Its saves big time.
