The army is not what I want ot do anymore, at first I was all for it, and now I'm just sick of it.

I feel like I can serve my country in another way (like join a different branch). I feel like if I get out, I may become a happier person, I feel like that is necessary for me. Everyone else out there, say what you want to say, but in the end it is my decision.

google Ar 635-200 and see if you can find any that apply to you. Ar 635-200 is on separations. chapter 6 has a lot of loop holes.
And don't listen to some of these dumb a$$ people most of them aren't man enough to put on the uniform in the first place.
The military is not for everyone.

That is EXACTLY how my husband feels...every single day. Unfortunately there is not anything you can do to get out of it unless you get lucky (or unlucky) and get really sick or a disability. Other than that you could always resort to a dishonorable discharge but then your whole life would be even worse than it is now.

I think the best thing for you is to just stay away from the "army" life as much as you can. My husband and I don't associate with the other army peeps...we just stick to civilians. We just try to get out to the "real" world as much as we can so we forget he is in it.

Trust me...I know your pain, and it is not any easier when your husband is in the army. But we all have not much of a choice here so just try to do things to keep busy so time goes by faster. Good luck!

Other than the usual "kiss your 1SG", the simple answer is wait until your enlistment is up, then leave. As an adult, you willfully signed up. It was probably one of the first real choices you alone got to make. Don't start your life by quitting on the first (and one of the most honorable) decisions you made. Ten years from now, do you want to tell your kids you were a "quitter" or that you kept your word to your nation?

Use the time you have remaining to prepare yourself for what you want to do next; work on your college degree, get specialized training, excel at making yourself a SOQ/SOY (soldier of quarter/year competitions) which may impress your next employer. Finally, ask your 1SG or CSM if they every planned on staying in the Army for 20 years. Every one of them will tell you no, and they hated it at first. Your problem is not unique.

Good luck, and thank you for joining when we needed you!

Everybody gets sick of it sometimes... it's not an easy job, saving the world. ;)

Finish your contract and don't re-up; that's the best you can do.

If you get a dishonorable discharge, you forfeit everything: your bonus, your benefits, your GI Bill, and later on in life - you won't get any social security benefits... ever.

It's not worth the headache trying to get out - besides, it'll take so long for all the paperwork (you know how we operate, everything takes forever to do the hard way, haha) that your contract will probably be up first!

Just stick it out... we need you, and we like you. :)

Go up to a General and give him a big wet kiss on the lips!
that will surely get you out of the Army!
after serving time at Ft. Leavenworth Confinement Facility!

Well, go AWOL. I know some guys who just up and left and didn't go to jail and six months later they received an honorable discharge, much to the chagrin of their fellow soldiers. Refuse to train, that one will probably get you in a world of sht. Break a bone, that will get you a nice little profile so you won't have to do anything, or you can get arrested for grand theft auto DUI etc. My advice would be to be a man and finish it because its like life. Ups and downs. It sucks and then it doesn't, then it sucks again. AND I'M NOT ENCOURAGING YOU TO DO ANY OF THIS

So let me get this straight, when you SWORE in you were immature and didnt have a clue to what you were doing. No let me guess, uhhh its all the recruiters fault. You had NO idea what an OBLIGATION is. OR oh yeah you have a job at a fast food place flipping burgers waiting for ya. So you thought that all that paperwork and swearing in along with all the money, time, and training you have done was a joke. The easiest way for you to get out is STFU grab your b@**s and complete the PROMISE you made.

You will regret doing anything other than staying and fulfilling your contract. Everyone feels like that about their job at some point, but you can't just always quit, and it's even more problematic with the military.

Don't do anything that will get you a dishonorable or less-than-honorable discharge. A dishonorable discharge will severely hurt your job prospects once you're out of the army. Really, you'll probably end up cleaning toilets if you get that. Plus you'll lose all your sweet army benies.
