I need money for college but I don't know how to get any. What kind of scholarships can I get? Here are some things that might help:

-My GPA is 4.125
-I am taking five years of spanish, so by the time I go to college I'll be fluent
-My dad used to be in the military
-My dad is a single parent
-I play the violin
-I am a writer and HAVE been published
-My PSAT score: 1760
-Clubs: Book Club, Literary Magazine, Gay/Straight Alliance
-I do slam poetry (if you know what that is)

Thanks!

From the looks of it, you are a junior, and it is good you are starting to search now for it now. Study and prepare for the SATs with a good test preparation book or software because some colleges and universities offer merit scholarships based on the GPA and SAT scores. The best advice I once received is to utilize several different approaches in locating college scholarship money. I will mention several different free approaches to locate money for college.

First, complete the FAFSA form after January 1 of your senior year of high school. It will qualify you for need based financial aid from the federal, state, and college itself. It will be based on your father's income since he is a single dad. It utilizes a percentage formula of your income and savings along with your dad's income and savings. It takes into consideration the household size and how many are attending college at the time. It needs to be completed each year until you graduate from college.

Second, your high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships. These are typically the easiest to get compared to nationally based ones. They will know about any state programs out there rewarding high school students with excellent GPAs.

Third, the local public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. You enter a profile, and it will search for scholarships matching your profile. There is a scholarship for almost anything including wearing duct tape to the senior prom.

Good luck!

wow. look on scholarship websites, suchas scholarships.com and they have you fill out all this imformation to see what scholarships you can apply for based on criteria. there are some of the simpliest scholarships out there that no one applies for, do as many as you can and you will recieve multiple. also if you know what school you are going to contact the financial aide department and ask them what scholarships they have.
