Pear Juice Concentrate?

Why is this in a lot of things? Even things that aren't pear flavor and don't taste a bit like pear. Is it some kind of flavor enhanser or something?

apple and pear juice concentrate are often used as a natural sweetener. alot of people are concerned about the amount of cane sugar they consume, and feel better knowing that the sugars added to their food are from fruit.
