There is no reason to believe in evolution. It will occur whether you believe in it or not. The process of evolution is nothing more than the change in a group of organisms over time.
Evolution has no domain over life origins--in fact, the theory of evolution as I have learned it over my 33 years is that it has never made any claims of life origins. You're comparing apples to ping-pong tables.
By the way, the Catholic Church endorses evolution. You don't have to give up your belief in creationism (even though I don't necessarily agree with it), if you are worried that it might cause a rift between you and your church or you and your boyfriend, and still accept evolutionary theory.

Tho the *bible says so* .. this does not count as evidence.
You can not prove the bible .. with the bible. The only source of info you're going to get on creation is from ur bible ..
You can go to your library and look up books about abiogenesis which is part of the big bang theory .. since I dont think evolution is what you are looking for. Evolution isn't the theory of *how* we got here .. but how we evolved *after* we got here.. there are countless books.. websites.. magazine articles etc on the subject from numerious different sources ..
the 3rd thing you can do .. is just chat with people of all back grounds .. you can learn many different beliefs and opinions .. when really .. No one .. .. atheist christian or other .. NO ONE knows if there is a god. .. its just what YOU believe really
good luck

tucsonrn : you're an idiot. evolution is fact .. and the bible is not ..
did you sleep through science class ?

Don't buy into something because you want the approval of another person. No boyfriend or friend is worth that.
The fact is science supports evolution. Evolution itself is a fact. Scientists have and can reproduce it in labs. The theory of evolution is just the explanation of why and how it happens. It could be wrong. The original theory by Charles Darwin has already been replaced with a more accurate version based on all the existing facts.
Creation has one source and one source only. Holy books.
I don't have the time to get too in depth at the moment. I've done a lot of research on evolution over the past few months. Shoot me an email if you'd like more input.

The evidence for evolution is extensive -- so much so that the Catholic Church finds that evolution to be fully compatible with the story of Creation. The reading is treated as allegory, not literal stories.
Creationism is based on the literal reading of the Bible, a concept that has no validity, given that the literal reading results in outright contradictions.
You can find some of the evidence behind evolution and the supporting reasoning on these sites:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution/index.html
http://evolution.berkeley.edu/
Kent Hovind is a terrible source. He's in jail for fraud. The outright lies on his site are laughable. His angular momentum argument, for example, has no basis in reality. If you draw a canoe paddle through still water, you will get two eddies in opposite directions. By his argument, that cannot happen.

Science can't handle the subject of the origins of life, it is not apart of science. We observe dogs producing dogs, how did they get here is completely outside of the realm of science.
Evolutionists have changed the definition of science. It was once accepted that a scientific explanation was the same as a feasible explanation. For example, if the evidence fitted with there being a Designer (God), then that explanation was accepted as a possibility. However, because many scientists want nothing to do with God, they have determined that science must be defined in terms of explanations that can have nothing to do with God. In other words, an arbitrary decision has been made by fallible humans to insist that to be scientific, God cannot be a part of the explanation. The reason for this should be obvious. If there is a God and the Bible is true, then men and women would have to obey His rules for their lives.
When people start insisting that using their intelligence to design experiments can help them understand how chance and randomness produced life one starts to wonder if we are speaking the same language.

Kalam Argument
1. Everything that has a beginning has a cause
2. The universe has a beginning
3. The universe has a cause
So therefore the universe needs a cause
God is eternal and therefore does not need a cause
The Conservation of Angular Momentum
Kent Hovind was on a plane sitting next to a evolutionist. Kent asked, "'If our universe began as a swirling dot, shouldn't everything be spinning the same way?' He said, 'Yes.' 'Well it's not. We have two planets for sure, possibly three, we don't know about Pluto, but two for sure spin backwards. Why?' He said, 'That's interesting.' I said, 'No sir, that's more than interesting. That's pretty hard on your Big Bang Theory.' I said, 'Not only that. At least six moons spin backwards in our solar system. Why?' He said, 'I don't know. Why do you think they're going backwards?' I said, 'Well sir it's very simple. I believe that in the beginning, God created the heaven and the Earth and he did it that way on purpose just to make the Big Bang Theory look stupid.'"- Kent Hovind
So the Big Bang is a big dud. Also indisputable evidence of the world wide flood is evidence that God exists. There fore since the Bible tells us of the flood caused by God we can also trust the Genesis account of Creation. Dont be fooled by men's wisdom and so called science it is foolishness with God .

Any high school biology text book will scratch the surface of the overwhelming body of evidence in support of evolution. There is no credible evidence for creation. Here are few big ones:
-Fossil Record. Through time, organisms have gotten increasingly complex, and the evolution of many species is easily observed by progressions of fossils.
-Genetic Evidence. For instance, in addition to analogous skeletal morphology, humans and chimpanzees are about 98% identical genetically. This is what we'd expect if we were descended from a common anscestor.
-Micro-evolution experiments. We have actually observed evolutionary adaptations in cultured bacteria, and in the development of insects resistant to certain types of pesticides.
-Vestigial structures. Snakes have hind limb bones. Why would they be "designed" with bones for limbs they don't posess? Whales also have hind limb bones.
This is just the barest scratch in the surface of the evidence that exists. Unless one assumes creation "theory" to be correct at the outset, there is no evidence for its validity.

The bible does not eclude the possibility of evolution/adaptation of species to the various climes on this planet. It would not make sense to see clearly that radiation from the sun causes mutation and not begin to see a pattern in how life continues .
Note.. God said he created Adam from the mud. And when the word "rib" was used to describe a portion of Adams anatomy used to form Eve.. the word rib was used by the old hebrew because the word they really wanted..was "curve" to decribe what was used to form Eve.... and the rib was the easiest comparison word to use by ancient men. DNA? RNA? Ring any bells?
Besides.. the Human Genome Project accidentally proved man ( male , not necessarily present day human male ) was created..and that then the female came along.
I believe in God and believe He did make all that is . Including the adaptation of various species to various locations on this planet.
No one was around when God created the world.. so no one really knows just how long exactly one of his days are. Back when He separated the darkness from the light .. that one day could have been like a billion years to us..who knows but God? Only God knows.

The evidence for evolution is and has been interpreted from a Philosophical and ideological Bias, The answers given by adherents to Evolution here in R&S is proof of the bias and agenda, Atheism has to have an alternate explanation—other than a Creator—for how the universe and life came into existence.
Darwin once identified himself as a Christian but as a result of some tragedies that took place in his life, he later renounced the Christian faith and the existence of God. Evolution was invented by an atheist.
What is sad is that Christians are falling into this Trap and trying to fit evolution into the Bible (Theistic Evolution) thinking they can make it fit.
Lee Stroble in his video listed below “ The Case for the Creator” stated (5 min. 28 sec into the video) The Case for a Creator
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajqH4y8G0MI
That “There is no way you can Harmonize Neo Darwinism with Christianity, I could never understand Christians who would say “ Well I believe in God yet I believe in Evolution as well” You see Darwin’s idea about the development of life led to his theory that modern science now generally defines as an undirected process completely devoid of any purpose or plan,”. Now how could God direct an undirected process? How could God have purpose in a plan behind a system that has no plan and no purpose? It just does not make sense.
It didn’t make sense to me in 1966 and it doesn’t make sense to me now.
The Apostle Paul wrote to His Son Timothy stating that “ in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
Those Christians who believe in evolution have no idea how that effects their theology.
What is theistic evolution?

i know where you're coming from. i was also raised as a christian and went to a catholic school. many of my friends are creationists and some are what i can only describe as religious fanatics. i, however, am an Atheist. on the whole i find that sharing religious beliefs is not what our friendship is about.
if it is really that important to your boyfriend then maybe he's not the guy for you? can't you just agree to disagree? (it does work!) if he wants you to blindly follow his own opinions then i would say he's not worth it.
