i love my boyfriend more than anything. we live together and will soon be moving for him to go to a different UC and for myself to start nursing school. one day he talks about eloping and the next week hes distant. we both have the same goals and dreams, but i dont want him to be scarred. I always tell him we should just live day by day and whatever happens, happens. I would love to marry him, but is it too much to ask for a little consistancy?

Consistency is not too much to ask for at all. You will not need this drama when you start nursing school, trust me. I met my boyfriend when he was about done with nursing school and he informed me there are a lot of divorces that occur. Nursing school is time consuming and stressful, you don't need his wishy-washyness to drag you down.

Really all you can do is support him and reassure him. He is probably scared of making a final commitment, most people are. Since you are living together and pursuing a future he has no real incentive to make it permanent with a marriage at the moment. Not sure how old you are or how long you have been together, but there will be a point when the future is more secure that he should be able to commit. Of course some people agree to live together and never do marry. The two of you will have to discuss and decide what is really right for you.
