HDTVs have a built-in HD Tuner, so you can use an antenna to pull in the signal, and the TV can interpret and display them.

An "HD Ready" TV does not have that HD Tuner built-in. It needs an additional box of some sort to feed it the HD Video directly.

I have an HD Ready TV and I get the HD video feed from my cable box.

HD ready means thatthe TV is able to DISPLAY High Definition (HD) signals but cannot generate them itself. For THAT you need a High Definition TV tuner. All you have is essentially a monitor, NOT a television set.
