Let's say some woman is a sociopath and had a child, the child was taken away from her and adopted into a healthy loving home. Will the child become a sociopath because her mom was? Is it in her genes?

A family history of the disorder does put a person at higher risk of having it too, but it doesn't gaurentee it. The enviroment in which the baby is raised will have a lot to do with it too.
There is definetly a lot of hope for that baby. If this is someone that you know just try to make sure that the child is not treated differently, but at the same time that the parents are on the look out for symptoms and gets the help that s/he needs if any problems arise.
If it's a hypothetical question then the answer is just that yes, it does raise the risk, but no, the baby would not automatically become a sociopath just because her biological mother is.
I know for a fact that there are sociopaths who have had kids that are fine.

Basically, nature versus nurture.
Environment plays a big role, but it's surprising how many characteristics of a person's temperament are transmitted genetically.
