I have an HDTV and HD service form my cable provider. If I get a HD antenna will I get more channels or a better pitchure on my non HD channels.

I don't think so. It means you'll receive your local channels in HD, if they are broadcast in HD. Otherwise, your cable company probably already has those channels set up for you.

No. Most likely your cable provider already gives you all your local channels in HD, which is all you'll get using an antenna.

Now on the other hand, getting your HDTV from the antenna often results in superior picture, because cable and satellite compress the signal to allow more channels on the cable or satellite feed. The compression results in loss of detail, like an MP3 results in a more compact music file, but not as high quality as a regular CD.

My cable company gives me some HD cable channels that are NOT available over an antenna. This includes: HDNet, UniversalHD, Mojo and ... TNTHD.

These are HD cable channels.

But as Laze Fair indicated - sometimes the antenna channels look better because they are un-compressed.

Look for a $30 Phillips Silver Sensor (classic) indoor antenna and give it a shot.
