I'm buying a bar and would like the public's opinion on what would make the perfect bar? What feature of a bar makes you come back again and again?

Hire the perfect bartender. A good one is one who is outgoing and can keep a conversation going, but knows when to back off and let the customers speak. It's surprising how many are either afraid to talk or are overbearing, dominating conversationalists.

My perfect bar would be any bar I'm not at because I don't enjoy going to them anymore. My perfect bar is my wine bar at home where it's quiet and cozy and smoke free!

Comfortable seating, pool or darts, jukebox or piped in music, if smoking's still allowed get a good SmokeEater, patio seating, simple munchies. A good bartender can pull a pint of beer with not too much of head, or if a customer wants something that's not a normal drink for the area, he/she has to have the personality to say "Not sure how to make that, how do YOU like it made?" with a smile. And maybe a weekly game tournament like darts or cards. A couple great bars I used to go to had videos of movie clips. And a dance floor.

A good bar tender over the age of 30, dressed nicely. Nice decor, good music, nice glassware, chairs and tables. That's all applicable to any bar archetype (ie sports bar, wine/specialty bar- martini).
-Obviously location is huge, parking is very under rated, having to park a mile away is not good.
-The place should be clean, no, spotless.
-more than one bathroom for each sex.
-wide walking lanes between tables and the bar, bumping into people is not a good experience.
-drink specials on your slow nights (tuesday for example)
-a nice patio or deck is very nice during the right season
-treat customers nicely, a free drink for someone who's spent >$60 or so is nice and they WILL remember it.

selection, price, hours of operation, atmosphere(entertainment)....and of course the bartender.

Get a wide selection of beer including several imports, the usual well and calls....stay open until the law says you can't, put in some game machines a couple pool tables and have open mic night, live band or karaoke....and get two hot blondes to work the bar... That is a winning formula...You can't lose.

Oh almost forgot... you have to have darts...
For any bar, I believe it is bad luck not to have sharp objects for drunk people to throw.

A fully stocked bar... a great bar should have just about every type of alcohol, a great bartender when a bartender says " I dont know how to mix that drink" That means this place sucked... and then word gets around... reasonable prices... and a fun atmosphere..

Features are beer taps, selection of wines and liquor that are compatible with mix cocktails than standalones.
