1/2 cup fresh pineapple pieces

Although you can make this with sugar-free nonfat vanilla yogurt, if you prefer not to use artificial sweeteners, it's great with a regular nonfat vanilla yogurt, such as Stonyfield.

Be sure to use the unsweetened pitted dark cherries. Sometimes they are called "pitted dark sweet cherries." These are fine, as long as they have no added sugar. Read the list of ingredients to be sure.

Chocolate Cherry Smoothies

2 cups unsweetened frozen dark pitted cherries
1 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar free nonfat vanilla yogurt
1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
Combine all ingredients in a Vita Mix blender or regular blender and process until mixture is smooth. There should be no chunks of fruit.

Makes 3 servings.
