Keep track of what they say, right down what they say and ask about it later like "so what did you do again"? " "what did you say your name was" test them when they dont know there being tested :)

You have every right to be concerned. In the Internet world, it can be immensely difficult to tell who is sincere and who is not. Here are a few good clues to weed out the "players":

When he/she asks for your name ...
When he/she asks where you live ...
When he/she asks what school you go to ...
When he/she asks how how old you are ...
When he/she asks you to send money ...

The bottom line is that when he/she asks you anything on the personal level or that makes you uncomfortable, just don't answer ...

you cant, that's why you never agree to meet with someone you met on-line. however you can have fun with the characters people place before you on the screen. you don't have to know if they really look like that or not all you have to do is enjoy what you 'think' they are.

I think you can feel it.... I have been chatting with quite a lot of people in the last year, but I have only "connected" with a bunch of them, mainly my contacts (only 6 people!). All of them, I know "personally", I know their real first name, where they live, what they do for a living, etc etc.... If a person is real, she or he will not mind share personal information with you, as you get to know each other. But I tend to mistrust people that try to be "mysterious"...

p.s: one of those people I got to know "personally", i.e. Chico aka Rob, will become my husband next year. We fell in love and I moved 6000 miles to be with him.... I wouldn't have done it if I thought he was fake :)

Love you, babe xx

It's hard to lie consistently. If you are online with someone for longer periods of time, you can figure it out yourself.

Everyone lies, or at least exaggerates, online. The only question is how much they're doing it.

actually most people reveal their true personality through the internet. It's easy for them to just be them and say whatever...

Short of hiring a private investigator, you can't.
