Obviously I havent died in battle but when Ive been in fights and scared I do think about my loved ones and how I dont want to let them down.
Its worse when you are on the defensive, getting mortared etc. You have more time to think because you arent actually fighting and dont have so much adrenaline pumping.
If you get hit, you are out of the fight and as you lay there you would think of home, anything other than your actual situation.
I always think of my wife and if I was dying I think my last thoughts would be of her.
In Saving Pte Ryan most of the soldiers were young kids who wouldnt have been married so their mum would be first in mind.

When men are about to die they tend to call for the people that they are closest with. Death brings people to a very insecure level, moms tend to be most men security blankets through their childhood. When a man is about to die they would like to spend that time with the one person that gives them that security back. Some call for their children or wives, these men most likely are suffering from shock. They may not be fully aware that they are about to die from their injuries.

All children have a special bond with the Mother who brought them into this world, more so than the bond with the Father who would be away working for hours at a time for most of the child hood years.
Starts in the womb.

Most of the men who die in battle are young men not that far from their mother. I know i was 17 when i joined to go fight in Viet Namn. It didn't take me to long to realize what a mistake i had made but i stuck it out and made it back home alive and in mostly one piece.

Normally men are closer to their mothers and daughters closer to their fathers. I think its a natural nurturing and protection thing that happens in growing up. Not always but most of the time. That's why.

the mother/child bond starts before the child is born. but those that are able to call out as they are dying will call for mothers as that if a bond that is nearly unbreakable or wives,if they have one and some will call to God.

I don't know. I do know, having witnessed death firsthand, that this is common, without regard to gender or age.
I have read opinions that state that at the end of life, the brain fires uncontrollably, perhaps shedding memory in it's feeble attempt to divert all of the bodies resources into maintaining life.
I saw this happen with my mother, my father, my best friend, and my brother. They all spoke to their mothers within minutes of their death.

they dont allways. but these are young men. not even away from their mom yet. ' in some cases'. but i supose when a man is scared he will call for who ever he has allways felt safe with. (no one is ready to die at that age.) no one should!! die at that age. i think we should reverse it so that every country has its old men to fight. ok so the war would be a bit slower.ha ha ...... but i would prefer to fight and let my son bring up my grand kids. i recon every man would.

I think if a son has had a loving mother, he knows that she is the one that would lay down her life for him. I believe it is the only unconditional love that exists outside of a love for your child.
