Travelling with Mehram is for protection of females. You can travel alone in Europe or USA in airplane or train and no one will bother you. If you go alone in Egypt you will not be safe. Those who are religious and good people, they will give you protection because they are afraid some one might take advantage of your being alone. There are also lots of woolves there and you might get disappeard without any trace. Cairo is a dangerous place.
Talk to your father on phone and ask him if it is good idea for you to go alone to Egypt. I wouldn't alllow my daughter to go there alone.
No one will stone you to death for going alone. Those who say such things are non-Muslims trying to mock Islam and scare people from accepting Islam as their way of life.

You can't travel. If you do, you will be stoned to death for leaving your home without a male relative. Or worse, you might even be circumcised.
Seriously, I just went to Egypt. Those are some of the most vile males to live. They stare, jeer, and shout obscenities to any girl that walks by. A security guard even pulled me away from my mom and dad just to tell me he thought I was beautiful. As if coming from him that would be a compliment or something! The American in me came out and I told him to "F*** off!"
Good thing I'm not muslim and I am an American citizen! Or else, it would have been me being stoned in a public arena!
If you want to travel, I suggest you go somewhere that respects women. You're already at a disadvantage as far as personal rights go since you're muslim and a girl. Why take any extra risks?
edit: Azim, what good is the religion when the followers claim they twist it? (I don't think they're twisting anything. I bet they're doing exactly what they're told--to treat women like second-class citizens.) But since you say people are jus tainting it, why not go tell your friends to quit flying planes into buildings and to quit beating women to death for wearing nail polish or high heels (like it hurts anyone/anything)? Then maybe, just maybe, the world won't hate y'all so much.

You should ask a scholar.
Some scholars say its OK to travel as long as you have a mehrem at both airports to drop you/collect you because the plane journey itself is safe -unlike in old times
