I asked a Q the other day that asked y yall think cheerleaders are skanx, and yall like got all hatin'. y do a lot of girls h8 cheerleaders?!

One of the reasons girls hate cheerleaders is because of jealousy. Cheerleaders are always cute and popular, especially with the team players they cheer for. It is not a cheap project to take on either, and that is from a mother's point of view. There are a lot of cheerleaders who use this as a way to put themselves "out there" much like advertising benefits for merchandising so that more guys will ask them out. Since they go out a lot and often with many different guys, this is construed as "skankdom." So even if they don't sleep around, others will automatically assume they do because of their popularity. Also, a lot of cheerleaders think they are "all that" and are despised for their conceited behavior.

I don't think girls hate cheerleaders, I think cheerleaders strive at being hated!

Some cheerleaders are ok, they aren't nasty... but you know one bad apple ruins the bunch in this world... so it's that way... and it's more than jsut one cheerleading acting scandaless... But I don't hate anyone. I don't judge whole groups by one. I might not like a cheerleader, but it's not because she's a cheerleader, it's because she's a horrible person who happens to be a cheerleader.

I don't hate cheerleaders. It really depends on the person. Some are really stuck up but I do have some friends who were cheerleaders in high school and you would have never thought so. They're really down to earth and just cool. They aren't the type of people who will judge you, unlike the ones I went to school with.

The cheerleader types have an air about them that makes them appear that they are better than everyone else, which is not true.
Cheerleader types also tend to hang out in packs, and rarely venture outside this pack in order to make friends.

i don't think they're scanks, but by the way you wrote your question, you certainly do prolong the stereotype of the "stupid" ones. Seriously, the short hand is annoying.

But to answer your question, all females are highly susceptible to what I like to call "coven-ing". It's a hormonal, id-driven urge to be on top, to attract all sorts of men. Some females have more "chemicals" like estrogen that make them more driven than others to be prone to this.

When other females seem to get more attention - generally pretty and flirtatious ones like cheerleaders - it makes other females very jealous because they want to be "on top of the pyramid", so to speak. This is why those other females will invent stereotypes and insults directed at the alpha females to try to bring them down. It rarely works.

So that is why you think people think cheerleaders are scanks. Jealousy.

For me it isnt the fact they are cheerleaders. I had some friends who were back in high school. Its just the ones who think they are better than others and who let the whole popularity thing go to their heads that give the rest a bad name.

I don't hate cheerleaders. I am a girl as well. I think they are awesome and talented. They work hard with their routines and things that they do, especially competitions. People are so closed minded and shallow sometimes it is not funny. They have low self esteem about themselves so they hate on people.

Most answers here are so Stereotypical. Wow. I can't believe how much people ACTUALLY judge people on here.

i think its so stupid how people stereotype a group of people...nothing makes a person appear to be more ignorant and idiotic than stereotyping......i am a cheerleader...and i dont believe i am better then everyone else...i am simply confident with who i am......yes it is true that some cheerleaders and stupid, stuck up, and slutty....but jus like in everything else there are exceptions.....

cheerleaders are stereotypically pretty, popular with the boys, stylish, and outgoing. some girls have a problem with that because they are a little insecure and feel threatened. =(

Because most of the time they're popular ,bratty, Think they're all that, think they rule the world, so concerned about looks, Heak I know a person who was a "Gothic" cheerleader for Halloween and she has that personality! (Not popular though, everyone hates her!)
