My sister collected more than that. I think she got a lawyer. She collected it after her kids had grown.

It is hard for me to believe that this guy lived in a tent in Alaska for over 10 years? He also never worked for over 10 years? How does he eat? People age and living in subzero temps with snow and ice can be fatal at any age.
Here is a novel idea. Why doesn't your daughter pay her own college tuition by working and taking out student loans. I never got into debt and attended a cheap school. I got out debt free since I worked two jobs while attending. If you are a single mother and probably low income. I myself and other taxpayers will more than likely be subsidizing you daughters education. I am sorry but your story does not seem completely believable.

I understand you need money as you think gud for your daughter - But at the same time no matter how harsh your ex.husband was - Please see his current situation, as you said he spent last so many years in tent, if he had money will he be living in alaska in a tent ?? I seriously think he hardly be havin cash and even though he'll be having it whatsever little even he has to live...

So for the good of all - dont pressure your ex and stuff..... life is difficult ! ( Esp. lonely )

Hi Freedom, You will NEVER see this money. The sooner you accept that and let it go, the better you'll be. You can't make someone do anything. You and your daughter have and will continue to make it w/o the money. He has completely chosen to avoid paying and made sure he didn't have the money for you to get. He's totally lost out on having her in his life...it is truly his loss. (I speak this from experience. My son's Dad never even bought a diaper for him and denied him as his son. My son is an incredible man now. We got loans for his college. His father is the loser in the whole thing...he totally missed out...) My advice is to not waste one more moment thinking about him or the money...just make plans to handle things yourself. You are capable. Knock and the door will be opened to you. Seek and you will find. God will provide for her...

the father does not owe it to the youngster, he owes it to the mummy. And if so, the father ought to pay his newborn help in spite of the fact that if the youngster is over the age of 18. i've got heard of the government taking newborn help out of a guy's social secure practices tests to pay back newborn help. that's something that too many ineffective-beat mothers and fathers think of they could get out of as quickly as the youngster is of legal age, yet that's no longer actual.

You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip. Where the heck is he supposed to get the money from if he isn't working? Do you really think after all this time he's going to fess up to his responsibilities and get a job? The best you can hope for is to put his sorry *** in jail.

There are many ways for her to get money for college. Forget about this man he is a total loser. Let your daughter take care of her life with your help, do not degrade her efforts by bringing this man into any part of her life. She can apply for grants and loans and will be more satisified that she was able to do it herself.

Find an outside source. One of those agencies that collect for you. They are harsher than social services.

I wish I could do it now. But because I'm getting assistance I can't.

:)) good luck

Get a lawyer or check with social services. Colorado has good laws that will help.
