Torturing people for all time either by fire or other means is Unjust and Unloving.
Expressing his abhorrence of this practice, God said through his prophet Jeremiah regarding the sons of Judah: “They have set their disgusting things in the house upon which my name has been called, in order to defile it. And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.”—Jeremiah 7:30, 31.
So whose Right here...does who says he does it, when God says he does not. Choose.!!

The wages of sin is death, not life in torment
(Romans 6:23) For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.
The dead rest unconscience in hell., hades, sheol. Awaiting a resurrection.
(Psalm 89:48) What able-bodied man is there alive who will not see death? Can he provide escape for his soul from the hand of She´ol? Se´lah.
(John 5:28-29) Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.
(John 11:24-25) Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life;
(Revelation 20:13-14) And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Ha´des gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds. 14 And death and Ha´des were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.

Answer: Punishment for sin is not unjust but righteous and Just punishment for sins and denial of the Sacrifice that Jesus made for us on the Cross which was the loving part of the situation.

Expressing his abhorrence of this practice
You said by yourself
God is very merciful and just.... if anyone says otherwise it means that he is just very ignorant about the attributes of his creator .
Torture from God will be only for 3 kinds of people
1. Those who rejected Him completely and denied Him and belied his prophets and messengers and stood against Him.Those will receive eternal hell
2. The pagans..who knowingly preferred to worship another god .Those will receive eternal hell
3. Those believers who mischiefed gravely will be tortured but NOT eternally .

And right it rather is a query. Why could a loving God enable poor people who harm different persons and are nevertheless depraved get to stay perpetually with the sturdy human beings?

Any question to this degree of critical importance must include the facts used to arrive at such an answer.
Obviously, you have left out the part where the Creator provided an option to avoid the "burning" of those who choose to be disobedient rather than obedient.
The real question here is "How could God find it in His heart to love His own creation who rejects, redicules and denies Him?"

God is a God of love and forgiveness. But also a gentleman, He will not interfere with your life. You must ask Him in.
Man has caused curses upon his self. Evil hearts and wicked ways has cause destruction on mankind.
We are warned " WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH THAT SHALL HE ALSO REAP."
Sow good deeds, reap good. Sow evil, reap evil.<><

No. I don't think I could love my father here on earth if he caught me on fire for punishment. And if my father is an imperfect human being, and he loves me that much, how much more so God loves me, being perfect in every way.
Being tortured in Hell is a false teaching.

No.
There is no moral justification for earthly torture that ends, let alone eternal torture.
Belief in a God that is capable of such immoral behavior should be considered abhorrent and dangerous to mankind.
