I'm a high school student in New York City, and I'm looking for a one-day volunteering event for my school club. There are about 70 members in the club, most of which will be able to volunteer. Does anyone know any good mass-volunteering events in New York that will last for about one day, on either Saturday or Sunday? If you don't know any events for that many people, an event for about 25 people should do.

Thank you!

For the USA: VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com) all list volunteering opportunities with thousands of organizations, including many in NYC. Some are group volunteering opportunities. Call organizations that post opportunities to these fora and ask them if they have group volunteering opportunities, and what the requirements of such are. There's also this government sponsored site (http://volunteer.gov/gov/) which provides volunteer positions through USA federal land agencies like Fish & Wildlife, Forest Service, National Parks, etc. Also, contact your local volunteer center; you can find this via the Points of Light Foundation web site (http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/).

Perhaps you can call around to local charities and see if you could run an event with them. Explain the situation to them, maybe there is a run for a chairty you could all particiapate in, or a car washing for a charity, etc. Maybe Habitat for Humanity could use volunteers for a day

Good luck to you and I wish you much success
