It seems we're doing a lot of segregating lately to me but maybe I'm mistaken. Do you think it will ever get to the point of something similar to apartheid? Or have we risen above that type of thing?

I was wondering because some people have called for work camps and things. Kind of sounds apartheidish.

Mike...I'm definitely NOT for open borders. I've stated clearly many times our borders need better enforcement.

The closest thing to Apartheid, USA already went through it years ago. I do not see it coming back.
At that time went the Civil Rights movement was so strong, caucassians were very worried that the descendants of the African were ruining the country. Some people just don't learn.

The only potential for apartheid in the United States of America is tied to the illegal Mexican immigrants. Once they become the majority it's we, American citizens, who will face apartheid.

You are mistaken. I do not know where you are, but there is no segregation of any kind going on where I live, and it is an area where illegal immigration is a major issue. They do choose to move into communities where they can stick together, but there is nothing keeping them there, and services are provided to those area in the same manner as the rest of the city. On the education side, the community is fully integrated, and if anything, the school system is bending over backwards to make allowances for their special language needs.

It is nothing like Apartheid. In that case, legal, natural residents of a nation were being denied their rights. In the case of illegals, they have no legal rights. They are not citizens. Yet they still try to claim rights and privileges they are not entitled to. Because they are illegal and should not be here in the first place. And what segregation? All I've seen is demands for legal citizens to move over and grant legit status to those who have not earned it; nor do they deserve it.

WHAT!!!????
No it could never be similar. I don't care if they go to work camps. Apartheid was a system based on race. It was implemented to keep the Afrikaaners feet on the necks of the indiginous Black population.
Illegal immigrants have NO RIGHT to be here in the first place and their presence in and of itself is a violation of our laws. This is true whether they are as black as coal, as white as snow, as red as brick , or they are martian green with pink polka dots.
Let us be clear. We do segregate here and for good reason. Our segregation camps are called PRISONS and we put CRMINALS in them. That is the only acceptable form of segregation on Earth and it is the only one practiced here.
Get that apartheid jazz out of here. You are just sticking up for illegals.

I personally believe you are mistaken. To me it sounds as you you are possibly coming under the spell of the individuals and media outlets that clamor for unlimited immigration of all sorts and completely open borders. To these so called advocates anyone who doesn't go along implicitly with their point of view are racists. I don't believe I am but I am against illegal immigration regardless of who's coming across the open border. It is after all illegal, (i.e. against the law, a crime), and has nothing to do with race or segregation.

I think it depends where you live. The building industry has been hurt badly by our open borders. You have illegal Mexicans working on homes with no work experience, being paid a min wage, the builders are paying under the table not matching social secuity ... mean while legit contractors are starving and loosing theirs homes., while Mexicans are driving new cars not paying taxes and their children are being educated in USA schools and they don't have to pay............ do I sound predjudice ? no, just pissed.

I don't think you know about Apartheid or illegal immigration. I advise you to read about both topics and you will learn before asking this off the wall questions.

The big difference in South Africa a minority imposed it's rules on the indigenous people who had done nothing wrong. In the case of the US people are breaking the law and demanding that we look the other way.

I think it compares more closely to "scab labor." The illegals work for substandard wages in order to circumvent our laws and in the process, they prevent honest people from earning a living wage. The issue of their race has nothing to do with it.
