The zoo in Waikiki is 6 bucks a person, and actually really cool- they have a huge african safari exhibit, and tropical birds just roaming around the zoo. You can get really close to the animals, so it's actually pretty exciting.

Somebody else mentioned Kailua beach park, which is awesome... about 30 minutes from Waikiki/Honolulu. You can rent surf boards for 10 bucks an hour and get a lesson in Waikiki, or just take them out to play and paddle around. It's cool to do this in snorkeling areas for kids who are too afraid to snorkle. They can paddle on their surf boards and look down at all the cool stuff.

boogie boarding at Kailua beach park is tons of fun, so I really suggest that.

As for climbing diamond head, I can't imagine any 13 or 10 year olds that would like that. It's not easy, and it's not enjoyable for those who don't like hiking. The view is great at the top, but how many preteens enjoy views?

Browsing through the tourist shops around Waikiki is really fun, even if you don't get anything.

I think you can probably keep your kids entertained for atleast a week by just being at the beach, but you could also go up to the north shore and look at the Dole [might be sunkist...] farm, or go to the Turtle Bay Resort and -pretend- you're staying there, they've got some cool waterfalls and slides to play in around the pool.

I hear theres a cool aquarium in Honolulu but I'm not sure where its at.

Also be sure to try some shave ice!

Climb Diamond Head - take lots of water, good walking shoes and sunblock.

Go to Kailua Beach Park. You can get boogie boards fairly inexpensively at WalMart, and the waves are gentle enough for a 13 year old there.

Go to Ko'olina - the lagoons there are wonderful, and a 13 year old can snorkel.

For around $45 per person, you can parasail, ride a jetski or snorkel from Hawaii Kai - next to the Costco.

The zoo and aquarium on Waikiki are fairly cheap and fun for kids.

Go on the bus or drive around the island. Making sure you have a Shave Ice in Haleiwa at Matsumoto's, sunset at North Shore, shrimp at Giovanni's Shrimp Shack, swim at Bellows Beach, look at Chinaman's Hat, visit Punchbowl Cemetary (lots of history there), Honolulu Zoo, have a Malasada at Leonard's store (on Kamamehameha Hwy across the street from Best Buy), Baldwin's Shave Ice is in the same mall if you want to try another one. Visit the Aloha Stadium Flea Market for souvenirs. Take the trolley to Ford Island and see the USS Missouri & Flight Museum. Do the USS Arizona as well.

Climb Diamond Head
Rent snorkel gear from Snorkel Bob's (around $10/week) and snorkel all the great beaches
Take a catamaran ride off Waikiki (about $15 pp)
Rent a boogie board and hang out on the beach all day
