I thought of a hundred ideas then I read quick and see that I am a little late answering your question. Rachael Ray has tons of sauces for pasta and other dishes. A lot of her sauces start with butter and EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and then adding flour - cooking the flour for a few minutes before adding chicken broth/stock. By adding the flour your sauce should thicken up pretty quick, once it starts to boil. (You can add grated garlic, onions, parsley, shallots, parmesan cheese, anchovy paste just to name a few different ways to spruce up your sauce) As you can see this isn't a recipe, but more of a method. If you are looking to browse some of the recipes and sauces you can go to www.Rachaelray.com or www.Foodnetwork.com. RR has some really good recipe ideas and at least have to check out her site and ideas. Love them! Good luck!

I don't know if you're looking for everyhing homemade.. lol but i do know how to cook without having to just eat the whole thing out of a can. Speghetti: One of the easiest dishes he can make. (I'm a guy and if I can cook, so can he lol) Buy ground beef. Throw it into a pan/pot and cook it up. Make sure all the meat is cook to avoid getting sick. I'd throw in some seasonings... lightly sprinkle in a little sugar, salt, pepper...the way you'd season hamburger meat. I also add alittle bit of garlic salt... or sometimes I chop thinly fine garlic to put into the oil before the ground beef. I also throw in some sliced mushrooms. I'd let it cook till it shrinks a little. Then I add Prego sauce. I use the Prego Speghetti Sauce Fresh Mushroom kind. Viola! Speghetti. Make sure that you also boil hot water to cook some speghetti noodles while he's doing that. If he's having trouble, he can do it seperately. Lasagna: Same way, cook up the speghetti sauce as explained earlier. You'll also have to boil water and cook some lasagna pasta. It's like wide strips. When it's all done, layer them into a baking aluminum tray. Layer the pasta on the tray (it'll fit about 3).. then pour some speghetti sauce. Throw in some cottage cheese. and layer some mozerella cheese. Then put another layer of pasta. Repeat all the layerings. You can do this up till the top. Make sure you sprinkle cheese on the top. Bake for about maybe 20 minutes or when all the cheese on top is melted. The last pasta I know how to make is Alfredo. You can make chicken alfredo, shrimp alfredo, or whatever. I perfer to use both chicken and shrimp. I cook the chicken/shrimp meat in a pot/pan. Basically, you chop the chicken meat into square inches or smaller. Pour oil into the pan/pot till its hot, cook up the meat. I usually add a lil sugar, seasoning salt, pepper, garlic salt, butter, and parmesean cheese. I add it for flavoring.. you just add by looking at it.. u dont want it too plain or salty. After the meat is cook, pour in the Alfredo Sauce. It comes in glass bottles just like Prego. The brand is called Classico or Bertolli's. It's in the same section as all the pasta stuff. While you're doing all that, make sure your boiling the fetticini noodles. That's about it. Pasta at home, cheap, good, and easy.

there are a few sauces that you can buy that are easy for pasta, you can always buy some spaghetti sauce, alfredo sauce, or cheese sauce. Also the butter noodles are good in a pinch. You can make your own sauce by melting butter, adding flour to create a thickening agent, then add different types of cheese to create a cheese sauce.

You could always just toss the pasta in some butter or olive oil and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. Not a sauce, but it tastes good.

1 - dump can of peas in sauce pan and cook away at high heat, mashing the peas a bit if you can while pasta's cooking. You can also put garlic or garlic powder (if no time). Can also had hot sauce and whatever else you need (pieces of ham, black olives, onions, etc). Cook it down so that it's thick (coats back of spoon). Then throw drained pasta in and let it cook together a bit. Add salt/pepper/cheese
2 - great northern beans, drain and washed off and then cook with some water and olive oil. Again, mash some and add whatever fixings. Add drained pasta and cook a bit together.
3 - chopped broccoli and grape tomatoes in olive oil and garlic. cook down and add pasta and cook a bit together
4- can of sardines with olive oil and add garlic. Add a can's worth of water. Cook down and add black olives if you like that. Add drained pasta and then bread crumbs (instead of cheese or with cheese). Hot sauce is great too.
Most of these would be good with short pasta (campanelle, penne, etc.)

My favorite simple pasta in lemon angelhair. You saute fresh parley and minced garlic in olive oil and add it to the (cooked and drained) pasta, squeeze a fresh lemon directly into the pasta, add a little lemon zest, add about a cup of grated parmesean cheese and toss everything together. You can add another dash of olive oil to the top of the pasta if desired. It is soo easy to make and yummy.
