Greens (mustard, collard and turnip), ham hocks, chitterlings, blackeyed peas, spiral sliced ham, curried peaches, pears and raisins, blackberry or some kind of fruit cobbler, whipped cream, apple cider with lemon slices, hot tea and coffee with real cream and butterflake rolls with real butter. Also, those vegetable and fruit dipping trays, some with chips for the dipping purposes. There should be a water dispenser with great filtered water.
Most of all, a heartful wish for all within the premises, and all over the world, to have a most healthy, prosperous, God-endowed, Happy New Year.

Black eyed peas, or hoppin' john with black eyed peas, is a southern tradition thought to bring good luck. I have a friend from Cuba whose family eats 12 grapes at midnight, and makes 12 wishes.

We learned about Hoppin' John 3 years ago. Now that's our traditional NY meal. I guess it's a southern thing to bring good luck, but it's also danged good, so why not?
