We'll be moving from SA in 2008 as I've received a new job offer. We need to make sure that it's the right move and be prepared for all expenses.

Fortunately I'll be required to coach your kids cricket! Not to eager to leave this beautiful land by the coast though!

What? Why on earth would you leave philippines for USA when you are making that kind of money there. I would take a 2000$ salary in philippines in a heartbeat vs a 4000 salary in the US and you want to reverse that? 2000 dollars here is almost poverty level. I actually make 4k per month here and I can afford a maximum of a 250k home if i wanted. That would stretch my budget out and i would not have any extra money each month. Now let me tell you that in my state the average home price is over 500,000 dollars. So if i get a house it has to be worse that 50% of the houses out there with a 4k income. 2k income. You might get a 2bedroom condo in a bad neighboorhood for that. There are cheaper places to live though, but if you want to be around other filipinos, they all live in San Francisco and Los angeles and its even more expensive there.

Well if you pay everyone incl the tax man I reckon you will be £300 out of pocket. But can always apply for a Visa card everybody does.Your question is impossible to answer without the full details of accomadation etc..But England is not cheap but wouldnt think SA is far behind.Kids at their ags are expensive to keep. But at a guess you will need a wage of £3650 per month.

I would not know as I live comfortably with my partner and we have no children but worked hard to get where we are with good jobs, so our situation is different; but as there are so many of you maybe you need to work out whether public transport would be cheaper than a car, be careful about which supermarket to shop at, save electricity, etc. It all depends on what you expect but I would not say that life is cheap here, especially as far as taxes are concerned.

How on earth could anyone do that? You'd have to be a qualified accountant. We don't need any more people in this country but if you are determined, you will have to come and find out for yourself, the way everyone else has to.
