Ok. My husband hates his 19 year old sister because he thinks she's a brat. He's 23. She just recently eloped with her boyfriend (before we got married) so she doesn't live at home with their parents. Anyway, last Christmas she got some jewelry from their parents and immediately was like, "eew. I'm not wearing this-- it's fake. This is the kind of stuff I wear (she points to her engagement ring)." I've seen home videos where she chewed her Dad out for saying the $500 dollars he gave her was also to be used to buy new school clothes. She went on a train ride a few weeks back and some guy came up to try to talk to her and she flat out told him "Please don't talk to me". That guy and all his friends called her "Princess" throughout the whole train ride. I mean she's really sweet but she just doesn't know how to talk to people without seeming like a stuck-up brat. I can tell she's trying to change but my husband has a resolute opinion of her that I fear may never change.

She's the youngest and she's pretty much gotten everything she wants. Their parents NEVER say no to their kids and don't discipline them. I got a dose of discipline just about everyday and if I was like that to my parents they'd gladly tan my hide. I think it's partially the parents fault for letting their kids do whatever they want and not making them earn things. Anyway, does she sound like a brat or is it just sibling rivalry?

She's a BIG brat! Your husband is probably embarrassed by her. Notice how he picked a wife who DID have discipline and boundaries in their life. It is probably refreshing to have some order and structure.
That's nice that you can see her "sweet" side, but the examples you gave about her "expecting" these niceties and NOT really showing appreciation is VERY sad, and it's too bad, because her parents did a lousy job of teaching her that the world DOESN'T revolve around her.
Maybe since your husband is a few years older and is most likely working for a living and supporting his household, that to see her act this way makes him lose respect for her as a person. And who could blame him?
The world doesn't need another spoiled rotten "Princess", as this is a big waste of space, in my own humble opinion.

She's a brat... and what goes around comes around.
Her parents need to quit giving her stuff. They will go broke supporting her ego.
At some point she will have to get real.
If her husband does not earn enough to fully support them both in the style that she insists on, he will either be getting rid of her just to pay off debts, or she will have to learn how to get real just to hold a job.
She won't be little and pretty for long, and she will have to back up her claims of worthiness with some actual accomplishments.

She has no obligation to talk to strange men on a train.
As for the rest, I really can't tell, but why do you care?
You don't have to be friends with her, if you don't like her. If you do, then why worry about a bunch of non-stories?

I don't know just what you would call her.Brat just doesn't seem strong enough. She is very rude and extremely self-centered. I don't think your husband hates his sister instead I think he hates the way she acts.
