talk to him and let him know what he is doing is illegal also find out who is giving him these smokes or if he is stealing that is the bigger issue express your conserns about smoking but dont nagg the more you nagg the more he is going to do it to spite you if he is not looking into stoping and what not tell him you leave me no choice and tell your family

Talk to him first. Tell him you know that he's been smoking. Tell him it's extremely bad for his health, and he can get cancer and die from it. Ask him why he's started this gross habit. If you are close to your brother, he'll open up to you and you can get him out of this mess before it gets any worse.

If he still continues, tell your mom. I know it'll seem like you're ratting out on him, but his health is more important. Your mom will figure out what to do.

You are a very sweet sister. Asking this question shows that you care about him. :-)

Good luck with everything.

I started smoking at 14 and kept on smoking for the next 10 years. I've quit since then but nothing anyone told me made me want to quit. Tell your brother that you're concerned that he'lll become addicted and show him some info (lots of resources online) about how difficult it is to quit once you are hooked. Leave it up to him to tell your parents what he's been up to. Lots of teens smoke but give it up when they get older. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's his decision and you can't make him change if he doesn't want to.

not 2 worry u more but smoking alone doesnt mean its not peer pressure... how do u know how he started? look, hes 14, hes trying new things. And, even if ur parents find out and ground him or whatever he may not stop.
Hes not a little boy anymore and i bet he knows the dangers of smoking. If u still feel bad talk to him, and tell him ur worried. u also need to respect his decision. i know smoking is bad and stuff, but as his sister u need to help him, not rat out on him.

definitely don't tell mom!
if you are his older sister you probably are more of a cushion for him than mom is. he needs a role-model not a telling off.
if he is smoking in solitude he is either doing it because he needs a stress break or is just chilling out from everyone else.
i think you need to identify:
what is he seeking solitude from?
ask him if he just wants someone to talk too?
he may be just bored!
communicate with him your concerns.

offer alternatives.
I think getting him interested in something would be a good start... sports ideas, hobbies, part-time job, volunteer work.

WOW 14 yes I think you should tell your mother and feel as if you should have done it the 1st time you caught him. I don't think she can stop him because he is obviously getting cigs. on his own. Maybe he needs the patch. Good Luck and remember to tell your mom about the 1st time so that you don't get caught knowing for a while now and barely telling her.

You should really be talking to him about it before you go behind his back and 'tell mom'. Even if it is 'for him', you will be hurting your relationship with him. Talk to him and try to convince him to quit directly and then take it up a step if and when necessary.

tell ur parents, obviously. but dont let ur brother know u know that hes smoking unless already knows because then he would most likely just do it somewhere else where he can hide it!

i would tell yuor mom, how old is this brother of yours anyway? just tell him not to waste his money on smoking nad on toys/car (wat is best 4 his age)
maybe call a police officer or sum 1 like that and then they can "misterusly" come to your home and talk about how bad it is 4 u.

Don't talk to him about it. That's bad advice. You're not his mother. It would be wise for you to just tell your parent(s) and let your parent(s) decide what's best.
