Any job offers what you are looking for. You don't have to work in ministry to be a minister. If you are the best example of a Christian on a loading dock you will be of more use to the Kingdom of Christ than if you ran off and joined a mission. But if you are intent on being a professional Christian, you might check the various Christian job boards online and the agencies that are looking for workers. You can always go back to school and get some biblical education so that you are of more use to a church or parachurch organization. But whatever job God provides for you is a giant opportunity to help the cause of Christ, you just need to be a witness in word and deed, and the Spirit of God will do His work through you.

Any job you can get you can serve Christ. If you can do manual labor they have temporary places that send you out to work for other companies. This might be how when you had a troubled past to get over the not getting hired. Not sure if this is the case or not,but if it was because of drugs you might have a problem even with the temp agencies. Hopefully not though.

I thought if god truly calls you he will provide you with a job?
Go to a couple of churches and ask for advice there.
You can serve the lord in any job if you do that job with a smile for anybody you meet.
Try asking people to give you the chance to show how much you love working may also work better.

In this life, most Preachers are paid, However in Christs church in the new Testament, none were paid. Paul had to make tents once in awhile to survive. Peter James and John were fishermen. If you had a troubled past, you are going to have to start on the bottom janitor, dishwasher, laborer. If you are a good worker, you will develop a good reputation. You can't earn a living serving Christ. It should be a free gift.

it depends on what you did in your troubled past. i dont care how much you love jesus, if you molest a child and then change your ways you still aint gonna get a job as a kindegarten teacher. gotta be reasonable. start out with a job up the street at Mcdonnalds and serve that poor hard working assistant manager that wants to be a store owner someday. tell him you just plan to be there for six months but you will do a great job. if you wont serve that guy, whom you can see, you wont serve god, whom you have never seen.

There are many hospitals that are Christ based. There are also many charities. The best bet is to find a position at a Christian college. They will likely provide you with free tuition as a full time worker and this can improve your job outlook in the future.

You can serve Christ in any job you do. It doesn't need to be a church thing. All you need to do is be a shining beacon for those that don't see the light. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

Pray, then open your eyes and see, there are plenty of jobs available to serve Christ. Even jobs not related to social work, hospitals, or schools.

In normal and common jobs you will be in contact with people than need to know Jesus; and just by being their co-worker you will have the opportunity to show God's love to them.

If you have a troubled past why not apply at one of the many shelters or rescue missions.
You may really be able to help someone who is standing in your old shoes.
