Hong Kong is a great city. Everything is so convenient. The subway system is state of the art. The aiport is new. The food is beyond awesome. The shopping (great deals) is out of this world. You can enjoy city life in Kowloon or HK Island. You can enjoy roughing it a little on Lantau Island with its campgrounds, hiking trails, etc. The city is slower paced than Tokyo but livelier than San Francisco or Los Angeles. It's great!

Hong Kong is a city that never sleeps. It is still one of the greatest cities in the world.

No wonder they call it "The Pearl of Orient".

Paris is the City of Lights, New York is the Big Apple, Rome is the City of Seven Hills, Bankgok is the Venice of the East, Manila is the Pearl of the Orient, Budapest is the Pearl of the Danube, Los Angeles is the City of Angels...I love these cities...but...

Hong Kong is second to none!

Hong Kong rocks!

Edit: wow, 3 thumbs down so far for saying something as innocuous as that...hehe...some people sure have a miserable life, they need to get laid more often...I'm glad not to be you...

Wait, I'm confused with White Shooting Star of HK... I think NEW YORK CITY is the city that never sleeps... and I know Philippines is the one that is called "Pearl of the Orient"... I'm a Filipino and our history teacher always tells us that... because the Philippines is shaped liked a pearl...

Well anyway... regarding your question, I still think Hong Kong is very fascinating. I especially love the airport and the skyline... it is truly breathtaking. I also like the unique combination of Western and Chinese culture... and shopping can be cheap if you know where to go and look... Plus the MTR is very clean and efficient... ^_^

But perhaps the only thing I don't like is that not many people are proficient in English. I think all Hongkongers should know at least a little of English, because not all of them know English very well...

It is definitely a "world-class city" as the tourism bureau likes to call it. Filled with amazing food, shopping, culture, and history, HK is number 1 on my list for any tourist. Every street has cuisines of any culture, from Delifrance to Cafe de Coral (Chinese fast-food chain: way better than McDonald's), to dim-sum restaurants. Employees at stores make customers their first priority and service is impeccable. Don't forget to see the historical aspects of HK as well, some of which are disappearing due to land reclamation and new high rises. If you hate dealing with foreign cash, the Octopus smart card is the most popular form of payment. It can be used for transportation, fast food, groceries, and stores. With Chinese and English as an official language, no tourist will be lost. HK is ever changing and I am totally fascinated by it. Hope this helps!
