a person named 'wolf' read my mind

...This place is bad enough for a veteran Christian to deal with at times. A young Christian could have their faith destroyed in a heartbeat...

if christianity is true by itself, why fear questioning? is the faith so weak it can't bear testing the mind and brain washing?

This is not the place for the newly brainwashed to go if you want to keep them under the spell.

Of course not. This is a website with no requirement to check sources and where many answers are posted to simply be derrogotory or provocotive, and about 1 in 20 are postings calling someone stupid because they do not spell well. It is also important to note that a new convert to a faith is easily diverted because they have not had the opportunity to develop the faith or obtain the knowledge necessary to filter out many of the untruths that are posted as fact.

I believe that there are lots of false teachings that are espoused online--not just on Yahoo Answers. You could always encourage new Christians to become acquainted with a good apologetics book (such as Defending Your Faith: An Introduction to Apologetics by R. C. Sproul).

Once they have a deeper grasp, they would have some "ammunition" available to recognize untruths on Yahoo Answers--or elsewhere online. I'm not saying they won't be able to find truth or get answers they may need on Yahoo, they just may need a bit of direction navigating through potential obstacles.

There are just too many silly answers here on Yahoo
q/a religious section. It could be confusing for a NEW
convert. I've been a Christian for a long time so I can
discern honest answers from fake or untrue answers.
So, I would not recommend this for new Christians.

If Yahoo! Answers was something they enjoyed, then of course! This is a place where you can view the thoughts and opinions of real people from all around the world. I do not believe in the "sheltering" approach. This is the world we live in, like it or not, and these are the people in it. The more you know about it, the better off you are. God's children, new or old, will not be shaken by something as small an answers website.

Absolutely not.

And "hell" is exactly the reason why not. This place is bad enough for a veteran Christian to deal with at times. A young Christian could have their faith destroyed in a heartbeat.

Edit:

Not wanting a young Christian to visit this website at first has nothing to do with Christianity and its ability to stand up to questioning or testing. It has to do with the need to grow and mature in the faith before they get hit with the nastiness and abuse that goes on around here sometimes.

If someone is just starting to run, would you suggest that they enter the Boston marathon right away? Or would you tell a novice cook to prepare pâté de foie gras when they can barely poach an egg?

The same thing is true of a young Christian. First, they have to study and understand the basic tenants of their beliefs so they grow strong in their faith. Paul talks about young believers in terms of feeding a baby milk at first and then, when they've grown up, giving them meat to eat.

Tossing a new Christian in R&S right away would be like trying to feed a two week old baby a sirloin steak. At best, he's not going to get much nourishment to grow on, and at worst, he's going to choke over the hatred and anger here.

No, I would not, because too many people spout untruths. There is truth to be found here, but you kinda have to look for it. Many are true, many are just opinions. However there is one good thing about all of it. When I give anyone advice i put in a condition. "I haven't charged you a dime for this advice, so consider that it might be worth what it costs."

Because there are far too many people here that used to have their belief and would cause them to ask serious questions that would derail their path towards full indoctrination and reliance of faith over reason.

Faith based belief, requires a dogged reliance of what you know ain't so.

New believers have not been able to develop the ability to ignore evidence and fact and replace it with hope and meaning.

The 'untruths' pitch is funny, because most of the people claiming that Atheists tell lies, will also claim that their fellow Christians are spreading untruth's about doctrines they don't agree on, and can only point to their personal interpretation of unclear text as proof.

"You are telling untruths about whales because your interpretation of Moby Dick is different to mine"

No,because there are roughly 95% of the answerers here that are ignorant of history.I'm not referring to anyone's religion.I'm talking abouth the bulk of the answers I see in all categories here that have no relationship with reality or history.

I'm not a Christian leader. But, no, they wouldn't like it. There are too many differing viewpoints here and they may learn something, or at least make them think. That's unquestionably forbidden to some.

No. This is no place for the newbee. Between the immature Christians who think they are all that, and the troll atheists, they would be ripped to shreds.
