Baptism is a picture of Christ's death and resurrection. It is symbolic of dying to your old life and being raised to living your life for Christ.

Baptism is commanded to be done as a profession of your faith.

What does baptism do? I'm not exactly sure. It is still very mysterious to me. It is more than just a symbolic ceremony but I don't know exactly what occurs.

Are we united with Christ at baptism? No. We are united with Christ before then...then we want to get baptized to show we believe.

The act of baptism was practiced by the Essenes who were likely the sect that John the Baptist came from.

They believed that God was not literal, but a metaphor and had stories found in the New Testament written a hundred years before Christ was born.

Baptism, was a symbol of giving up old selfish ways, and living for others, it was based in astrology.

Christ is a representation of the the new age, his baptism by an Essene was meant to represent the passing of one age into the next.

There are three ways to identify with Christ during your water baptism. 1) His death 2) His burial 3) His resurrection

You have first trusted Jesus as your Savior before asking to be baptised ... right?

Water baptism does NOT save anyone. We do it out of obedience and to identify with our Savior.

Take His name (YAHOSHUA,) and follow His rules... Like Sabbath observance, and the other special days He set aside. Eat only food He approves. Etc.
