Since Adam lived several hundred years, having lots of children was not a problem. The Genesis account does not tell us about the order of the births nor does it tell us how old they were. By having many children it is certainly possible that there were many women around. This would mean that Cain married either a sister or a niece or some other relation. Of course at this point, the question of inbreeding is raised. But it is not a problem early on in the human race because the genetic line was so pure. Therefore, the prohibition against incest was not proclaimed until much much later (Lev. 18:6-18).

Having BEEN a victim of incest, it is not okay, and it harms in ways, you could never even imagine. in that there are side effects, that are as numerous as the facets in a diamond.
Low self esteem is only one of them! This is what causes a lot of women to grow up to be prostitutes!
As for being a ''sin'? in the bible? it seems that the only important issue about incest being a ''sin', is WHY, it is necessary, at the time.
I always found it disturbing, that in the bible, especially in early Genesis, no other than woman beside Eve is mentioned.
They never said that when some of their children grew up, and mated, that they moved away, and lived somewhere else.
Why is it that in the bible, none of Adam and Eve's daughters were mentioned?
But, anyway according to the story, who else WAS there to marry, except for sisters, and then cousins?
And after three or four generations, what did it matter, anyway

For a generation, sister had to marry brother. The people then were of pure blood and it didn't result in genetic problems. Incest generally is a father who is already married messes with a daughter. That has been declared against the law. I am sure the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve became adults and married before they have children. Today, it is against the law, because the human body has been battered by drugs and improper food and is no longer the perfect body Adam and Eve had, therefore public law forbids it. Remember that the original people had such perfect genetics that they lived for a 1000 or more years.

We can`t all be from Adam and Eve, because are blood groups and DNA prove diferent.
That having been said, the bible does forbid incest between a mother and her sons, but not between the father and daughters. This in zooalogical terms is known as line breading, and is used to build up a stock of a particular animal from a single pair..!!

If you believe in your bible read Genesis 1 and Genesis 2. BOTH mention the making of humans. Maybe there were two different sets of people, thereby saving our early DNA from becoming corrupt.
It seems that I may know and understand more about that book than many of the bible-loving religions -- which proves I did some research before rejecting it.
Hasse, you mean he changed the laws of human DNA?

NOT. It WAS not a sin when YHVH had first created the world, and everything was VERY GOOD. After sin, and things got corrupted, He gave us very specific rules regarding incest.

At the time yes.But you need to read Scripture to see why laws and covenants changed. It is now and there are stigmas and curses attached to that sin.

No, and this question has been hammered to death recently. Sin aside, it is just bad reproductive practice.
