Im very irate right now and really just need to know how others would feel in this situation. All of my dogs & puppies are current on all vaccinations. My one female had 1 pup who is now almost 6 weeks old. They are both kept in the house and the mother was UTD on vax, plus the pup is still nursing. I do not have people out to my house specifically because of parvo possibly being transmitted (expecially with the young pups) and I am very careful to clean and disinfect every day. HOWEVER. Ths past Saturday my b/f went to his brothers house for a holiday gathering. His dad showed up there as well with his 11 week old Belg Mal pup who started to fall ill on Friday. It had symptoms of parvo or something similar. He took the pup to the vet on Sat morning before the party and the vet gave hime antibiotics and told him he wasnt sure what the pup had. The dad stupidly takes the pup to the party to watch it -DUH! (anyone should know better than to take a sick pup ANYWHERE).

My b/f came home Sunday afternoon and it wasnt until Monday am they tok the pup back to another vet and said it tested for parvo. I didnt know any of this-or that the pup was even sick until my b/f had been home almost a solid day. I am stressed out for my 5 week old and ticked off that someone could be so irresponsible carying a sick pup around. Now what do I do? How should I feel? Should I be mad as hell at stupidity?

A risk you take when you chose to breed!!!

It was your choice not necessarily his fault.

Added:

If you choose to breed you choose to risk puppies being exposed to parvo. That simple a fact of puppy life. Not just from an incident you know about but by walking down the street you can pick up parvo and take it home.

First yes it is maddening but like some others have said it's the chances of breeding.
I start my pups vacs at 6 weeks old. he hopefully has enough immunity from mom. Get teh shot as soon as you can. it can take 7-10 days to show symptoms so keep a close eye on your pup.

Thats horriable. Someone should yell at your boyfriends father. I would take your pet into the vet ASAP. I adopted a 4 mo. old puppy from the shelter, who had been exposed to parvo. Because she was a puppy, and her immune system wasn't strengthened, she couldnt be cured, even with medication, because the virus had already been incubating before we adopted her. Early detection is key to curing parvo, so I'de get all of your animals in right away, just to check, even if they have been vaccinated. Good luck!

I would be mad as hell! His dad did obviously was unaware of the parvo when he brought the dog out, but ANY pet owner with a sick dog should take precautions to ensure whatever the dog has is not transmitted to other dogs.

This is sooooo true!
Not only is parvo carried on the bottom of our shoes due to living in the ground, you never really no whos yard is safe! I have heard of diff. strains of parvo that are becoming immune to the parvo vax. Just be very careful were you go , you can bring it into your yard and not even know it.

I would tell BF that his dad is going to be responsible for any vet bills brought about by his stupidity.

You sound dilligent, and it sounds like he just doesnt give a rip.

Its just frazzling.

Here is hoping for healthy pup and momma.
